The Future

I was up most of the night watching most of the old ski movies I own. Ran through the entire PBP catalog from start to finish. I was pretty amazed to watch stuff like "13" and "The Game". I remember when they came out and thinking this is the absolute shit. Now it looks like a bunch of freaks out hucking off of tiny jumps. I know how much the sport has changed since then, but do you think in 5 years we are going to look at Tanner, Pollard, C.R. segments from today and think the same thing, or is the sport reaching a peak?

is it really possible to go bigger than like a switch 9 on a 120 foot gap? i think skiing is at a peak

thats what people were saying five years ago...just wait

I predict fluid pipe runs with switch landings and takeoffs....

I predict switch big mountain runs

I predict the first major switch strgt line in AK

I predict triple flips

At a certain point we'll hit the limit of human physical capabilities.

What happens then? Dead pro?

I'll be dead by then.

there are so many possiblies in skiing.

has anyone thrown anything unnatural off chads? switch unnatural? landed switch?

someone will do it eventually. or at least try.

skiing has definitely not peaked. look at snowboarding, how long have they been going at it and travis rice just blew minds the other season with his chad's gap antics. the jumps may not get much bigger, but the level or tricks being thrown will get higher and higher.

let's do ourselves favors and never say that our sport will not be able to progress more than it has -- historically the people that say stupid ish like this are proven to be very wrong.

[ex] Bill gates was quoted saying that no one, under any circumstance, would ever need more than ONE MEG of ram for their computer. -- idiot.

Im realy interested to see where rail skiing gose not just with like 270 on switch up shit butt like realy like crazy rails like down flat drop flat down < seeen it

i dont think its at its peak, but skiing's progress has definately flattened out a bit. Not a bad thing, it will allow more people to experiement

i think as far as jump size and difficult tricks that skiing has pretty much peaked. ppl will start getting more creative tho with rails and unique styles

look at skateboarding and crazy it is now just you guys wait skiing is going to progress to unimaginable hieghts in the future

when every trick is gonna be done etc. people will get more original and do funky shit, like snowboard, old school and all

i think itll peak by 2010 and well see somethin new every here and there. theres still ways to be indiviudal and sick tho

What only the top few pro's were doing 5 years ago is what every kid on skis (who has some skill) is doing today. So I bet in 5 more years all the people we will consider "pro" will be doing what only the best few today are doing. The new best few will have come up with something more to blow your mind.

Why so closed minded? I agree with what you were thinking but something revolutionary could possibly come from jibbing.

Just because it is beyond our imagination does not mean it doesn't exist.

People said skiing backwards had nothing to do with skiing.
