ok, i dont wanna hear anything about the red system in here, this is the future, fuck the HVX, it's time for 1080P/24P with interchangeable lenses

The Canon XL-H1 has been out with 1080i/24p interchangable lens capability for nearly 2 years now. The Sony looks like a direct rip off design wise of what Canon perfected years ago with the whole XL series.

The companies have the option to use these, its if they want to throw down $6k+ per camera and use something of this size while riding. I've used the Canon XL2 for many film projects and its amazing but the size for mobile filming especially in a fast paced event is tough (same with the Sony's shape and size).

dude are you kidding me, you obviously have no idea what you're talking about

the xl-h1 is 1080i interlaced, the sony pmxex3 is 1080p progressive

if you don't know that that means, please don't post if you don't know what you're talking about

the xlh1 has the ability of the fx1, which is not saying much at all, i have used both the h1 and fx1(own one) and i prefer the fx1 a million times more because it's not as bulky and not fragile like the h1 is

next, the xl h1 uses 3 1/3 inch ccd's

the sony pmwex3 uses 1/2 inch cmos sensors, which are a gillion times better

also the h1 uses mini dv...the pmwx3 uses flash memory and can record up to 180 mins of

all in all, you are wrong!!!
 
also, the HVX was around 8k$ when it came out, this is gonna blow the hvx out of the water since the hvx only had 720p
 
Neglected to truly read what you said when I posted and completely overlooked the 1080p portion. I had just figured it was 1080i in true Sony fashion. My bad on that one, the CCD sizing is pretty damn good, what is the casing like on the PMXEX?
 
yes, but soon enough PBP and Matchstick are gonna have to decide between going to 35mm or getting a RED system, 16mm will slowly be phased out in the next 5-10 years, don't quote me on that tho...because i love film and the look and everything wayyyy more than digital
 
that was more of a movie ABOUT the camera then a movie taken WITH the camera...but i went on his website and watched the movie he made with it and it was extremely nice...even though it was a bit lame for my taste...i preferred that one red video (sorry) of the skateboarder in slow motion...
 
yes, but red is a completely different league, with a red system, you're gonna spend minimum 20K, this is gonna sell for around 9k$
 
didn't know that, but its a very good point....I honestly have no clue with cameras I just know what I like when I see it....(no dumb blonde)
 
I know seriously...the RED is the first digital camera that I actually approve of...fuck all the other ones. miniDV? P2 cards? plastic casing? fixed lens? horizontal grip and handle? Cosmetically I couldn't despise digital cameras any more, not to mention their decent-at-best image quality in any weather other than bluebird.

With the RED there are dozens of grip options, metal casing, interchangable lenses, and progressive, HD high framerates.
