The fuckers at Post Modern need to grow a pair

So Post Modern first asks for an incredible $6,000 for an all-ages event on a Sunday, then when I call them out on it and tell them that other venues have quoted $3000-$3500 the chick has the tits to send me an email, FROM A BLACKBERRY, suddenly declining due to "liability issues".

Since when has liability for an all-ages event been an issue for a club? I'm not even upset about them trying to rip us off hard at this point, just the fact that they didn't even have the honesty and integrity to tell me upfront that they don't want to do it at that price. Liability issues? I could pull a better excuse out of my ass!!

It's really too bad because it's an awesome venue, but looks like the people that manage it are sly ass fucks.

Shut up Matt haha I'm fucking pissed off at this Wendy chick. Also my phone's being a tard and I would love to come up to grouse with you, but let me get rid of this flu and the 3 tests I've missed because of it first. This prom shit is buthurt to the max

there is a liability issue. I know quite a few people who put on all ages events, and its because of past events that put the city to be a lot stricter on nightclubs letting promoters have all ages events. If any alcohol/drugs get snuck in, and the cops when they do their routine check up find this, the club will lose their liquor silence, thus their major money maker on regular club nights, and it is very very hard to regain another liquor lisence. Its very hard to find a nightclub to host an all ages event nowadays.

also Wendy is a lawyer, so she knows whats up and the dangers of having one, and becuase Modern is part of the Donnelly establishments, there are people higher up than her who have more say on whether to say yes or no. Clubs not make any money when doing a all ages event, compared to friday, saturday nights. but $6000 is expensive.

Modern threw us a great premier and all the management there that we've dealt with are awesome, so I would have to disagree with any hate on modern.

Sorry I don't usually lose it like that on NS but a bad day plus a really bad flu can do some awful things.

Pat you seem to know them well and also I'm pretty sure Spencer promos for them right? Do they usually gauge like that? Because all the bullshit about the email aside, to be charging more than double the other venues for a smaller cap on a Sunday just seems ridiculous.

I guess I'm just frustrated in part that I'm almost certain they would've been more professional and quoted me a fair price if I had two more years on me.

i am most certain that they would've quoted you a more fair price too. The reason why its so high, is because they know that they are one of the only nightclubs that are even considering doing an all ages event. 2 years ago, a lot more clubs would've been more open to all ages events, thus making the market for nightclubs holding all ages events very diluted and competitive. Modern along with the Donnelly Establishment, know that they are one of the only ones, so its that price. Also they dont make much money on all ages events. like i said, nightclubs make all their money based on alcohol sales on regular club nights (friday + Saturday). Only reason why a nightclub would host an all ages event, is to promote their nightclub to the teens for when they turn 19.

Yea I understand that alcohol sales is the big driving factor, but it's just ironic cause they're holding an all-ages event on the 17th. I wonder what they quoted for that one? And I guess liability suddenly wasn't an issue? Or they have a quota for how many they do a year maybe?

An all ages event will cost you more simply because the club will not generate nearly as much revenue off of liquor sales. Due to the lack thereof. Need to cover operating costs.

Why not just have a 19+ event so everyone can drink?

its the same price for every promotor trying to host one at modern. Unless they really have connections. Liability is always an issue. The Police also have to "ok" the licensing too.

They literally can't be getting it at 6G, they're selling tickets at $20. Which means they'd be in the red. 3.5 would make more sense but they'd still only be making a grand profit.

To the post above, for one I'm not 19 and two it's for an after prom so that's not really an option.

what school you go to?, yea i dunno, maybe they arent in it for the money. They'd be making less than a grand because of DJ's and such.

No the original estimate was for cap @ 300 x $20 each so 6G budget, and I'd be surprised if they spend more than $500 for DJ's. I guess for a promotion company doing multiple events that's not that bad.

I'm with PW, so far we have AuBar with SubAntix, TechniColour and DJ cLEgiT:
