It's actually misunderstood. Everybody think it is, 'I think rails in general are just a phase.' In reality, this qoute came from a short interview in one of last years freeze issues (can't remeber the exact one). In the magazine he is qouted as saying, 'I think URBAN rails in general are just a phase.' This probably makes no difference to most people, I just thought it might clear some stuff up.

in his section in X, he only does one rail and it's an urban one, not that that changes what he said or anything. just sayin. i did think it was wierd that he only had 1 rail in his section though

urban rails are only cool looking when there is a lot of snow around. a skier sliding down a handrail in the middle of summer grass and blooming flowers all around looks retarded indeed, way to jmmt for my liking.

to me, he has a super sketchy rail style. watch 1242, and you'll see he looks like he's gonna biff in every shot, natural or unnatural. i love his airs though.

Candide i s a rail master but im not a fan of rails unless they are super tech with switch ups aand all the glitter!

Pete is currently sulking around Mt. Hood, shooting with Poor Boyz Productions and hitting on Kristi Leskinen. She hates guys, Pete lamented, so it’s not going good. Apparently Canada isn’t the only thing that’s tough for Pete to get into.

yea 1242 anthony looked so sketchy coming off rails, but he was nice in smooth in x, crichton also used to be so sketchy on rails: watch stereotype of strike 3, but olenick i thought always looked good especially this year

Rails are awsome I think that they blew up really fast and Anthony B was doing them before everyone, he destroyed that scene and now he is one of the first people to back away from them. Rails will be cool again in like two years when people are nose sliding and tail sliding them. But all the quadroople-kinks are really boring to watch.

anthony was tech on rails in 1242 but not the cleanest (as mentioned above) i really respect that he is goin out bc in ak and wherever he wants to pretty much but the thing is, rails are here for the kids that dont have backcountry to go ski, the kids in the midwest and east coast always and anywhere else when its not a pow day. Rails are for when there is no powder, so i partially agree with his quote. If you have pow, by all meas, go out and take advantige of it but when ya dont, rails are fun to screw around on.

Another thing ive been thinking, if rails just kinda came up outa nowhere, then whats next, a completly new and crazy way to ski is not really out of the question for the sport right now and im sure it will come someday

I think rails in general are stupid. It's not like Anthony can't ski backcountry, go back and watch Propaganda...it's nothing new. It's not he started skiing BC in 1242. I dunno, this is why I'm a big fan of MSP...HARDLY ANY RAILS.

I may be misunderstanding something here... but for the comment that urban rails with out snow isnt cool / sick / dope / rad / tubular . . . I disagree. I think taking skiing out of the mountains and into everyday life is a feasable direction. With the rising cost of lift tickets, and peoples disagreements with the slow to adapt average skiers, skiing 'out of bounds' is a great and wicked fun alternative. Skiing a rail in a city enviroment is just as fun as urban mountain biking, street BMX or skating. Its a differnt feel, a different mentality and a whole differnt line of BS when you have to deal with the public.

From a promoters stand point, there isnt a single better way to show people what today's youth is capable of then to put it right out in their faces during their every day lives. I'll give you a 'for instance' Storrs Connecticut - UCONN. We slid a 40 set in between two dorms unannounced a few years back. We had 1100 kids peering out their windows to see some jack asses hurt themselves on a hand rail that they take for granted every day. Eventually drawing a crowd, people soon realized who our sponsors were and what were actually trying to accomplish. When the cops showed up and cuffed my buddy jay, more people show up to see whats going on. These students have never seen anything like this before and I gaurantee that it was a topic of conversation on their way to a keg party.

Like i said, maybe i missunderstood something, But I dont see how some one could think that urban rails is lame, and will fade out.
