Literally just watched it and my mind was blown. I can honestly say that this was one of the best movies I've seen in years. Here's the description from Netflix:

In this gripping thriller, a group of men volunteers to take on the roles of guards and inmates at a mock prison as part of a controversial psychological study. But when the guards abuse their power in alarming ways, the prisoners stage a revolt.

not totally sure, the way the movie is directed it doesnt seem like it, but I think that the results are the same

I watched it and found it very interesting. What i do not know is if it was based off of data from an experiment that was done but not filmed, if its all hollywood, or if that was the real experiment.

there definitely was a true experiment done, I just don't know how accurate this movie depicts the actual experiment

seems to be extremely loosely based on the Stanford Prison Experiment, nothing besides the idea seems similar though. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanford_prison_experiment

honestly it really wouldn't be difficult for that kind of money if they just thought logically....seriously two weeks is nothing.

This is kind of what I was wondering. I have seen documentaries on this, and it seems so messed up. Pretty sure some of the "subjects" ended up with lifelong psych problems.

Seen the movie and researched the actaul experiment.

This did actually happen, the movie just plays it up a lot. They had to cut the experiment short because people legitimately started freaking out.
