a grab in that wouldn't even look that good, i really hope that's not what he going ot be throwing down this year, he seems like he's got that on lock too so things might be looking shitty

ahh, i dont like like it, and i hope skiing isnt going to go in this direction, at least jons kang flip looks stylish, that had no style and even witrh a grab it wouldnt look good
 
Whatever, you guys gotta realize. Skiing is changing. People have different styles now. Not everyone is the same like back in the day when every video had the three phils, jeremy nobis, and johnny mosely. The fact that there are different styles will attract more people. We need to accept creativity and be stoked on change. Some people will do different things whatever.
 
i agree and usually am stoked on change, but this is a different kind of change - aerialists, its already a sport of its own and it may be one of the few changes in freeskiing that we are trying to veer away from

I totally agree with you man. Aerials are beat, but if people can make it look good and if some people like it than thats what matters. Maybe something good will come out of all of this.

anyway, if he wants to do it then cool for him, but from my opinion I think it looks pretty lame. I mean sure you can spin and flip a ton of times and do crazy shit and even land it in control, but it doesn't look that cool. there's too much going on to follow and nothing I could ever aspire to do. I say noooooooo.
 
i think its just what the judges have put into the sport and the direction that they are taking things...a couple years ago gagnier's switch 10 in slopestyle x was like OMG...thats amazing, then you go to any major comp now and that trick is almost a given..then your have shillers switch 14 at the open...people are just trying to take things further than the previous person by throwing more off the jump...even with Jon olsons kang..now that trick is overplayed..tons of people and kids are throwing it....with simon's double front flip misty thing, its just another attempt to further progress the sport in the direction that the judges are pulling it...what should happen is: Yes, judge how many spins or flips are put into a trick, BUT also look at the style more and the technique and the ease a person has in the air when they do the trick...instead of judging by 90% technicality and 10 % style..it should be 60% techinicality and 40% style..Judges stop creating a reason for a person to be a blurr in the air and instead recognize unique style when you see it!!

sorry for the rant..i get carried away..o and simon's flip probably isn't finished yet and will have a grab in it eventually
 
Its not up to the judges what you can do and cannot do. just because one guy is lauching aerial tricks doesnt mean you have to do it. corks are still cool

 
Holyshit.... What's with all the hate over a trick. He could be dicking around or hes working on that trick. I personally think its actually pretty cool if he put in a grab. I just looks really really fluid. The title "The end of skiing is near" Has to be one of the dumbest things i have read in a long time.
 
That's not the end of skiing bro. It may just be somebody decided to dick around. It may well be the future. People will have to try different things. People bitched about spin to win, and instead of making the 14 a standard trick some people have moved on to other things. You have to keep progressing somehow, and if they want to stop throwing one thing you have to throw down something new and go from there.

Remember a while back when people would practically stone to death any skier without poles? No poles is common now. I know kids who throw down cork 10's and all kinds of gnarly shit without poles and look good doing it.

Our sport is changing. What do you want, the same stuff forever? People will move on and randomly try stuff because thats what our sport is about.

Are you trying to tell me that when the first twins came out everybody was like "Wow, those are very good looking, I have nothing against this new concept and I feel it will catch on quickly and be successful." ??

I bet way more people said something like "What the fuck are those things?"

Change is a part of our sport. So is individuality. Something changes and not everybody likes it, big deal. Pull the stick out of your ass and live with it. If you want to have your ideas at the forefront of the sport get your lazy ass out there and throw shit down instead of sitting on NS bitching about what somebody else did.
 
haha simon dumont messing around and having fun????  he is a good skier and all but he skis for money and to show off.  if there is any skier that doesnt ski for fun its him. 
 
I dont know about you guys, but I want to see competitions that mandate you can only do 360's, all those other spins are too hard.

That looked gay even tho its super hard. I think he could seriously fix it by going front flip to cork 7 or 5 if he doesn't wanna sneak that spin out at the end. I done those on a tramp and they're pretty hard but do-able.
 
he pretty much admits it in his segment in yeah dude, that segment is all about competing, and he says the prize money and media coverage is the best part. and he has the most cocky attitude ever, i was watching off the grid on tv one day and every skier they interview is talking about how much fun they have and how cool it is to be skiing with friends and stuff, then they interview simon and all he says is " i almost died last year, shouldnt even be skiing, but im not worried."  he is just in love with himself, he is lucky he cant suck his own dick cause he wouldnt have even had the chance to ski cause he would be inside all day sucking his own dick.

just watch his segment in high five when he is walking through the croud at x-games like a tough guy pushing peoples hands away instead of giving high fives, while play the song "move aside and let the man roll through" it fits his shitty attitude perfect.

mabye im wrong and he does actually enjoy skiing, i just cant stand people with a crappy attitude like that, thats why i dont play team sports like football, cause i cant stand all the cocky jocks that think they are so badass. it just seems like he enjoys the money and fame much more than the skiing part.
