The end of High North?

Earlier this summer I heard of an ordeal that occurred at High North, something about insurance problems. From what I understood, the camp shut down earlier than planned and the Whistler Open obviously wasn't held because of it. I never did hear the details of what happened and was curious as to whether anyone knows the story and whether the camp is shut down for good or if it will be back and running next summer. If this has been an over-discussed topic then I apologize, -MEG

i think they just fucked up that one week, but there back next year.. then again i have no clue... shoot me?

so what happend to the kids that signed up for that week, did they not get to go or something?

i was at that session and this ordeal fucked the last half of the week over for us. At camp shane and the rest of them tried to make us belive that it was because of the FIS that the insurence policy was being looked over, I belived this excuse for a good amount of time and my hatred for the FIS grew to levels unheard of. It wasn't till I got home that i figured out the whole thing was shanes falt, he thought he could get away with running the camp and having absolutly no insurence, it was possibly the biggest scam of all time. and it gets better, the day we left we all recived this notice that said sorry for what had happend and kept going on, then at the end of it the notice explained that we would be reciving a $300 discount on the camp if we dicided to come back the following year. what a fucking crock, saving for a whole year to go to 1 week of camp just to get fucked over was not anything to do again. If you want to ski this summer save some cash and just rent down their for month or 2, that month or 2 will cost you only 3/4 of what one week at camp would.

that realy sucks....

heed, I could not agree with you more. Sure it was incredibly stupid of the organizers not to have insurance but the thing that pissed me off most about it was that they didn't even offer the kids in that session a full refund. I know that if I had saved up all year to go to camp and it got cancelled for reasons totally preventable, I would expect and demand a refund. I am totally disgusted with the way this was handled. I guess that's all I have to say for now - I wouldn't want to say anything I would regret later.

peace.
