The Edge Of Never

In the world of big-mountain skiing, Trevor Petersen was a legend.

Appearing in countless films, magazines and photo shoots, his ponytail

flying behind him, he was the very embodiment of the freewheeling

spirit of extreme skiing in the 1980s and early ’90s.

Then it all came to an end. On February 26, 1996, while skiing in

Chamonix, France—the so-called Death Sport Capital of the World—an

avalanche swept Trevor away. His body was found sitting up in the snow

as if gazing at the mountains he loved.

Nearly a decade later, Trevor’s fifteen-year-old son, Kye Petersen,

a rising star in his own right, traveled to Chamonix to ski the run

that took his father’s life and, with the aid of some of the world’s

greatest ski mountaineers, to become a member of skiing’s big-mountain

tribe.

There to chronicle Kye’s story was William A. Kerig, a filmmaker with a

dream of his own—to create a film about the soul of big-mountain skiing

and the band of mountaineers who ski the steepest, wildest, most

dangerous terrain in the world.

In The Edge of Never, Kerig gives us not only a ripping adventure

tale about a young man coming of age but a frank and subtle portrait of

the extreme skiers who "live big" in the face of death and risk

everything to experience the fullness of life in the mountains.

"A gripping tale of fathers, sons, and the mountains that call to them."

— Marc Peruzzi, former editor-in-chief, Skiing magazine

"A great exploration of the tragic and unforgiving nature of life in

the mountains and its beautiful and sometimes irresistible allure."

— Derek Taylor, editor, Powder magazine

This book is truly inspirational and touching. By memory it is only $16, I seriously recommend taking a look into it here http://www.theedgeofnever.com/index.html

Below is also the teaser for the movie version of the book, which at present, production is on hold due to lack of funds. But by supporting the book im sure you will be helping produce what looks like a really inspirational film.

Thanks for posting this. This movie and book both look great. I know what book I'm buying with my barnes and nobles gift card now.

wow thanks so much for posting this!

I just watched that video like 3 times, this story looks really inspirational, and definatly built up some pre season stoke! I hope to buy this book soon for sure.

Support this book ns!!!

i posted this a couple weeks ago and am about halfway through the book. I would 100% recommend everyone on here to read it. It gives an unreal look into what skiing can be. Its a great read

oh sorry i didnt searchbar lol. but well done for buying the book, im about to tonight, im excited, and considering i never read books, thats a rare feet

If everyone on this site buys the book we'll be that much closer to the movie being made. If you can, buy it from his website and not amazon. It might be a couple bucks more but amazon wont be getting most of the money from the sale

++Karma for buyin it. But like i said, if you can spare the extra couple bucks (its 16) buy it from Bill Kerigs site at http://http://www.theedgeofnever.com/index.html This way, Bill will see more of a cut instead of almost nothing he probably sees when people buy it off Amazon. This will also leadto the movie getting made sooner. I finished the book this mroning and its very moving and inspirational.

haha thats cool. well done for buying the book! im more looking forward to my book arriving than all the ski dvds i orderd!

Many many thanks to all for rocking my book like this. It's really, really cool to see. I completely appreciate it. I wrote it first and foremost for real skiers, like you.
And yeah, I make more $ (though still not as much as I would've made if I just devoted all the time to working the drive-through at Taco Bell) if you buy it from me off my site at www.theedgeofnever.com.
If it helps to justify buying it from me instead of Amazon, it does support me as we try to get the movie to liftoff (the current financial meltdown has temporarily nuked our funding), and I will also offer to sign any copies for anyone buying directly from me.
If you want to do that, just buy it off my site and then send me an email (williamakerig@theedgeofnever.com ) that details who you want me to sign it to. Buy early, buy many, buy often!
Cheers,BK

That trailer up there inspired the hell out of me, im buying a copy of this book asap, i'd order it from you but unfortunately i've just been given a book voucher, would be a shame to not use it so i'll purchase it from a store from over here in the U.K. maybe boosting your overseas sales to an infintescimately small degree will get your film more filming! I bloody hope so anyway, the best of luck! are you based in Cham btw? might be going this season as im based down the road, If you are you've got a pint coming your way.

Dom_UK,
Right on. Thanks for your support! No, I'm not based in Cham, but I plan to be back there this year. I'll post when I'm headed over. And then take you up on the pint.
I'm in Salt Lake where we're skiing Alta and Snowbird on pretty good snow right now.
Cheers,BK

sure am. i got it off theedgeofnever.com, with shipping i think it was around 40$, which is due to our poor economy mainly, but like said above, if you buy direct of bill (the author) you are contributing more to the production of the documentary which would be uber sick if it got produced

If im there man then we'll definately grab a pint, my team managers in cham, im in Les Deux Alpes/ La Grave down the road , anout 3 hrs away. but im coming visiting at some point in the season! same applies if you head to La Grave!

Just finished the book... definitely a good read. It tries a little too hard to appeal to a broader (non-skier) audience, but the story and the message behind it are great.

BTW, if anyone's interested in getting books for Christmas gifts I’ll sign and write a customized gift message on every copy that you buy directly from me atwww.theedgeofnever.com.You tell me what sort of thing to write by filling in a new field that we created on the checkout form.Cheers! BK
