too bad all of salomons skis are wood core now, and they have rivets in the tips now so they wont delaminate in the tips, and cracked edges... all skis get cracked edges
 
hahahaha....wood cores? Sorry but they're all still isocell aka foam. The only time you're getting wood in they're skis is in their top of the line X-wing ski and worldcup race stuff.

They're park skis are and will always be foam, which is why they will always break. And have you seen the rivots? They're made of plastic.
 
^ Sorry I forgot one point: Salomon skis are more susceptible to broken edges because they are made of a cap construction, sidewall constructions are more durable on rails.
 
sorry about the wood core i was thinking rossi, though yea foam cores break easily but there still good because there fucking light. but anyway the rivots will still hold the skis together if they split. though im not gonna argue cause i personally hate salomon except for there boots
 
Guys isocell is not the core, it's a layer of the monocoque.

Composites are the cores in many of the Salomon and Rossi's cause the material has shown to have the same properties in dampening as wood.

Today the only difference is it the price. Wood cost more then composites.

There's not disadvantage to using composites especially durability.

As for the edges quality comment that's horse crap. All the brands use the same edge materials. Kinda lile ptex is a raw material used by all brands.

And finally Salomon's warranty is as good as anybody if not better.

Isocell IS the core. Monocoque is just the material used overtop of the core that stretches from edge to edge that keeps everything together as well as add some torsional rigidity. (You can check the website or tech manual if you don't believe me)

Yes synthetic cores have the same dampening properties as wood, but they do not have the same durability. If synthetic cores were as durable and cheaper than wood, nobody would use wood cores.

And yes most companies use similar materials for the edges, but the way they are put together is what determines how easily your edge will break. Let me put it this way: I work in a ski shop and out of broken edges that I have seen, there are about 3x more salomon broken edges than any other. Not to mention I've owned a pair and lost an inch of edge myself.

And Salomons warranty department is very good...but that's because they're stuff breaks so much.

 
Easy now I work in a shop too and salomon's don't come back any more then any other brand.

And warranty is a right that should not be abused.
 
Favorite or not Salomon's product is top quality and personally i think that they have way more upside then downside.

I also like the dumont, it's so fucking dumont!
 
the Dumont is a terrible looking ski and i hate its flex but other then that go for it...

the nicest ski i think T&L has right now are the Armada AR6's/T hall's or the Volkl Karma's
 
Armada's are the worts skis of all twins.

I had a pair last year and they fell apart from the day I got them.

I will never buy that brand again, they have no customer service and no warranty policy.

Plus they don't ski well on hard pack. At ALL!

And Volkl, lame stiff skis.
 
Armada sent me a new pair right away when my nose delammed. So there customer service is much better than most companies, you just dont know how to contact anyone. P.S dont go through T&L when your skis break, do it yourself, much more will be accomplished that way.

Secondly what's wrong with a stiff ski? The karmas are a damn solid ski and dont chop if your bombing into a jump and since there stiff you dont wash out on landings. Plus the karmas are quite strong like PE's so they will last, wood core, won't wear out like salomons will

 
Im not from ottawa and i dont work in a ski shop but i do know that the Dumonts are 100% wood core this year and next year. peep a catalogue or look at a ski your mounting. dat shit is true
 
the dumont is sick, it skis VERY nicely for anyone who is not just a ninga. it is the only LAB twintip in the line up there for it does have a full wood core as well as the race base(it cooks), i like the looks, the only beef i had was the one size, BUT next year it is available in a full range of sizes, to anyone that has a chance to try it give'r
