The demise of skiing

i think you're completely and totally right, hateraid. hat tip for trying to make other people on here wake up a bit with this thread! Joel got it right, too.

okay, i lied a bit there. you said that some "professionals" of our sport like candide don't actually want to do 810s on. i disagree, i think that riders like candide and hatveit and, well, the rest of them all do it because they're a bit thick and close-minded.

just like the people on this website that go on and on and on about how sick kangaroo flips would be with and octo grab and how double noses are the best thing to do in a zero. oh wait! those are the same people that used some homosexual slang word to put down your posts in this thread. people that said "fuck you! 810s are fucking progressive! you're fucking stupid! fucking skiing is going through so much progression right now!"

excuse me? this is regression.

whoah dood.

so if you wanted to do an 810 on, or something else crazy, just cause it was a challenge; you wouldnt do it?

Im glad there is someone out there doing these things that i can not.

I see you use of sarcasm is plentyful, so thanks for agreeing with me in advance.

i get the feeling you read a lot of stupid bashing and banging and name calling on ns, not unlike most. sorry you felt that you needed to write what you did on the last line.

i would not do an 810 on. you see, i don't really ski for challenges. well, i don't ski for that type of challenge. hmm, challenge?

i would love to do a crazy trick! i just do not like the crazy tricks that most skiers are doing right now (see x games, us open, invitational events). they're obviously tough to do, but they don't look good at all. that's it.

i think they look neet.

and no one wins the xgames with a lofty 3. NO ONE! haha.

anywhooo, i just think its wierd that the people who can do that stuff, dont hate on it. But the people who cant, do. ironic how that works huh?

anywhoooooo.

You sounded sarcastic, so i called you on it. touche sir, touche.

I ski to have mad fun, and sometimes doing something 'challenging' is the rad.

I believe we all have our style. But I believe mine is the best. So everyone should follow me and do zacly what I do.

i can do a steezed out 360 or 540, anyone can with a very small amount of practice. i can not, however, do a 1440...and not many people can do one besides pros. so if a stylish 5 is better then a 14 or something then why isnt everyone pro?

so basically

fuck you

that is all

thanks for your time.

hahahaha so many pretentious asses in this thread, creator included. fuck all this internet whining and trend debate im gonna go have fun. stop takin urself so damn seriously.

Lol I don't know what your talking about. I have been here since the start of the site. I do my own thing, occasionally I will ghetto out because it's mad funny.

I think most of the kids here just ski to ski.

Who gives a fuck what your steeze is, if your on twins your supporting the sport.

Just go into the park and support other skiers no matter who they are. If they give you shit just ignore them.

im not saying its better im jus saying in my opionion slow steezed tricks look better than really hucked ones.

im not trying to diss at all. i have mad repect for the guys that can do dub flips and 14s. lyk on the joi jump u cud do slow 9s n it luked sik.

im jus saying id ratha watch sumthing realli stylie than something realli hucked

First and foremost, your wrong. Secondly, I'm not necessarily right, but I honestly thing your wrong.

The spin to win mentality will always be there. The competitions would be nothing without the difficulty factor thrown in. Besides, comps expose the sport to an entirely different audience. The style and progressive shit you seem to want comes in video segments, or gets thrown down when nobody is really watching. The style is always gonna be somewhere, you just have to look, and without the difficulty behind the spin to win mentality, where is skiing going? Next year it might be flip to win, and it wont rhyme, but people will still bitch about it. Get over it.

the thing is, in competitions, you COMPETE to out perform everyone else. when you do this, you obviously try and do harder, "better" tricks. a 180 is simply that, a 180. you could have a big air copetition and one guy does the sickest 180 ever seen, and compare it to a shitty 1080 by another person, and since the 1080 is a technically harder trick, it will win almost any contest in comparison. thats just how it goes. this is they way it will always be, untill a new format for judging them is created.

skiing is for fun, let people do whatever the fuck they want... i mean, some days i feel like trying that 270-pretzel 270 off the down flat down, and other days i just want to do butter 180s off little jumps on the side of the run. thats why i ski, because it gives me the freedom to do a ton of sports, when really its all skiing. i could ski powder in some trees, straightline a chute, hit a rail, hike a tiny log jib, anything goes. tight clothes, baggy clothes, no clothes, park skis, fat skis, cross country skis, who cares. go out and have fun in your own way, and who cared about how popular skiing is to the general public, or if someone wants to 990 onto a quad kink.

and thats my mini-rant for today.

dude! lets rant on newschoolers about progression.

then lets go skiing and try octo grabs and pretzels.............

actions speak louder than words.

p.s. trendy isnt unique or progressive.

I respect everyone's opinions, and the fact that we all see skiing differently...but you just cannot say anything that negative about Candide. He is quite simply, the man. He took halfpipe to a whole new level (literally), he threw crazy stuff over gigantic gaps before anyone else would consider them. He hosts an event every year in which the point is to come up with the most creative, fun park features ever made. He has been killing it since he was 16, and he's still on top of his game.

you

shouldnt

space

out

your

post

so

much.

and your ignorant. maybe people enjoy doing 810s onto rails. if you want people to have their own steeze, thats a problem if they dig gangster steeze or gayper steeze. stop being ignorant

this guy is way right and wrong,if it wasent for the 1440 and back to back 1080's the sport would not be even close to where it is now, I dont like x games half pipe any more, spin to win is dumb. but thats what people like, being the only person to do this trick or that trick, but the sport needs like the kangaroo flip, and cool stuff like that.
