how about we all quit being so fucking lame.

lets all grow up and build this sport in the way that it should be.

Quit the spin to win.

Quit the 810's on to rails

Quit the gaper steeze

Quit the we're so much cooler than other action sports.

Skiing, at least the skiing this site is based off of, needs to really mellow out.

Quit being such fucking haters.

Quit being such fucking claimers.

Just go out and ski. make your own style.

Progress the sport.

change the thinking

and stop listening to fucking wankster rap
 
when you can do 810 to rail, then you can stop it.

until then, its undoubtedly one of the hardest tricks which not many people can do.
 
Sometimes I like to smell my socks after skiing in them 3 days straight-no washy, inhaling the vapors increases my steeze powers.

810s to rail are sick man, they dont have much style, but they are sick. the coolest thing about it man is that people will start doing it, and they will make it so stylie. like 10's back in the day looked so shitty, but now they look great. give people time to add style to shit. Skiin wont die. its fun, people are getting into it, it wont die, at least yet.

the problem is that everbody in the sport of skiing who makes the rules thinks that spin to win is key. look at the fucking huricane. Jaret "Speedy" Peterson is throin the most dificult trick right now in airials, and it is a whole lot of spins with a buch of flips....

do we want our sport to turn in to airels? i know i don't want it to. Our sport of skiing should embody all aspects of "SKIING"... and i say that in caps and quotes cause skiing isn't doing flippy spinnny things after going straight and then landing and going straight to a stop. skiing is making turns from top to bottem of the mountain or slope or hill, or what ever you have....

but learn to make turns and use your fucking skis... you will get better at park doing this. i promiss.

ALSO!!!!

lets make skiing in to something greater, not equal, to what it is today. make it mature, like surfing. make it core like skating. make it mellow like snowboarding. make it our own

LIKE SKIING.

it isn't a fucking stunt show it is skiing.

ya that's definitely the reason why Candide does ridiculously styled corked spins onto rails and lands them clean. To win competitions!!!!

Definitely has nothing to do with the fact that he's da man, showin' everyone what's up.

And last time I checked Candide hosts the greatest anti-comp in the sport, his comp is what snowboarders wish they had, so SHUT THE FUCK UP about the man who is one of the greatest things that ever happened to skiing.

Competitions get the sport to the masses, when people who never see the sport of skiing and still think its one pieces and snowplows see a switch misty ten high mute or sw 630 on it changes their minds. A huge shifty 1 does not, however if you watch video segments your probably seeing more of where the pros want the sport to go, which is just as you asked sw 7's, cork 5's sw cork5's and technical rail tricks, like flat 450 on b.s. 270 out and pretzels

So quit bitching about the state of the sport. No one who is planning on winning a comp is going to do a 180 or a 3 and no one who cares about the sport is going to stop progressing and continue to do new and sick things whether its a switch cork 7 with a new tech grab or intense rotations onto and off of rails.

the only reason people dont like spin to win is because its done too much, it has gone on for too long, or...it has been a while since skiers have progressed from it.

but not anymore! thanks to the spin to win progression, skiers are now doing double flips!

stopping the spin to win would be counter-progression. I usually hate spin to win but flip to win is the shit! 16 year old Jossi doing double cork 1440 is where its at. While I know I will never do these tricks, its always entertaining to see these crazy people doing them. It adds two aspects to skiing, crazyness vs style

sometimes both aspects are in one trick, and without people trying all this crazy shit, then these aspects would never collide. Look at Jon, he does the craziest shit out there, but not a single flail when he does it. That is what I'm talking about.

i like 10802 and 810s, and i have a friend who has done only cork 3s for 4 years.

its about expressing yourself and i dont see why doing an 810 when you feel like it isnt expression so fuck off.

well you are never going to stop the thing inside people like me that makes us want to do 10s 12 and 14s so just go express yourself how you want to and show love to other people who might be feeling a different vibe than you

I think it's stupid hating on the spin to win so much that you hate it when someone spins 900 or over. I think a good skier should be able to do the whole double ninja-truffle-shuffle 1260 if he can to see how far he can push it. But then work to make his 360s and other smaller tricks smooth and defined.

If everybody thought like this guy, skiing would have never gone inverted. Back in the day (in snowboarding atleast) going inverted was the gayesy shit ever. If you did a Jay Flip in the pipe, people would make fun of you and say you were doing Gay Flips. That all turned around in the next couple of years and corks/rodeos were born. Sure, there is no steeze in 810's right now, but like everybody else in this thread said, progression isnt always beautiful at first. You have to give it time to develope.
 
i kno i love getting better and being able to do new shit and i kno that if i could do fucking 810's and shit i would be so stoked and do them all the time.

Dude, freeskiing is just that, free. Just by saying what you want out of it your are defying its very meaning. If you want to spin to win, then spin your heart out. If you want slow steezy spins, go so slow that you look like you are going backwards. Do whatever you want. We don't really have a defined sport, and thats fine with me. People get something they don't get in almost any other sport, freedom to do whatever the fuck they want.

Every fad in freesking will come in and out. No poles, gaper steeze, spin to win. Sometimes it hotter than anything, and sometimes noone gives a shit. You want to really be a freeskier? Do your own thing.
 
How about this....everybody says spinning is gay, and inverts are not core enough, and all this crap. What is skiing going to become....just straight airs? Honestly, the average person will look at snowboarding, and get bored as hell. Then another person will look a newschool skiing and be entertained. Skiing is just soo technical, and stylish why ruin it by just spining ones and threes all the time. No offence but everybody who says a slow three is harder then a 1080 is a moron. I say let the sport be what its going to be. If there is going to be a demise of skiing its going to be in the form of us not having any snow to ski on.

i think people should stop telling everyone else what to do and take skiing they way you think it should go. if everyone is doing the same shit, its gonna get repetitive and boring...if everyone does what they want, listens to what they want, skiing will have a lot more variety and will grow even more and be more unique.

if people want to spin to win, let em, if you like to spin big stylie and slow, go for it, just dont hate on other people for doing what they want to do.
