The Dali Lama

I just want to say that if any of you don't know the story of the Dali Lama, you should really take the time to go look it up real quick on Google. This man is probably the most amazing human being on earth right now, and yet no one seems to know his plight or his incredible sincerity. His country was taken over by China, his religion bastardized and eliminated, his people forced to become street vendors, and his heir, who was only 6, was taken by the Chinese and never seen again. He was forced into exile, and now the only real Tibet is in the Indian town of Dahrmasala where he is forced to reside.

Despite all this, he travels the world, speaking tons of different languages, to tout peace and understanding. He is a true Buddist, he seeks no retribution against anyone, only discourse and understanding. His life's goal has always been peace, in the most real and literal sense of the word. In my opnion, he deserves a lot more credit and respect than he gets, and everyone (GEORGE FUCKING BUSH) can learn a lot from him.

If you think noone knows about the plight of the Dalai lama you might be an American.

I saw him speak when he came to Toronto and it was truly inspirational. You were right n saying he is one of the most remarkable human beings alive.

Though I agree that he is an inspirational guy, I think that the story of Tibet is commonly misunderstood. People like to refer to Tibet before it was taken over as such an awsome place when infact it was a system of nobility and abuse at the hands of the former Dali Lamas and the higher class. That's not to say that China has the right to take it over, but if you actually look at the poorer class I think that they have a better standard of living now.

u fucking euro pieces of shit piss me off sooo much u think all americans are retarded rednecks just because our president is one. WERE NOT ALL STUPID SO GET OVER IT IT DOESNT MAKE YOU COOL TO SAY WHERE IGNORANT AND STUPID GET A LIFE U FAG!

Well I'm from America and you're right, not many people here even know who he is. All I know of him is from his autobiography I read and bunch of documentaries and other books and stuff. I would like to see him speak though.

Has Buddhism really been "bastardized?" I always thought that was such a chill open minded faith. In fact I almost wanted to switch over, but they don't have Christmas or any festivities of that sort because they don't believe in materialism.
