The Daily Show vs. The Colbert Report

Is it just me or does it seem like The Colbert Report just makes jokes the show? Like he doesn't seem to clarify things and give his opinion. He just uses clips of news and props to gain views. The Daily Show on the other hand, John Stewart knows what the fuck is up. He'll make experienced politicians look like kids playing in the sandbox. Now I get you could say "The Colbert Report is supposed to just be funny; its on Comedy Central!" Well, so is The Daily Show and it seems pretty legit.

What do you guys think? Opinions wanted.

daily show for sure. yeah colbert report is funny, but the daily show actually has real shit with jokes centered arounnd them. and john stewart is frickin funny

colbert reports more of a satire of a right wing primetime news dude with his own show, daily shows just making fun of the news

Explain more please. "More of a satire of a right wing primetime news dude with his own show" doesn't really mean much to me.

colbert is a parody. hes mocking ultraconservative (though these days some liberals as well) news shows. basically all those crappy opinion shows that masquerade as news. i find him hilarious

stewart is more direct in his mocking. i think i find him funnier most of the time.

both are pretty golden though. but neither one should be watched to have things clarified... its a comedy show, not news. the fact that anyone would take it as anything else is quite frankly terrifying. watching stew beef own people is funny, but please dont base your political perspective off of two shows on comedy central.

though in retrospect, better either of them than any of the other cable "news" networks i suppose.

In my opinion, I'd rather have a person base their stuff off John Stewart than someone like Glenn Beck or Bill O'Reilly anyday.

Lately Stewart has been far more entertaining. Him cranking about the Gulf oil spill and how to blame people was awesome.

Word, plus the one thing that annoys the shit out of me about colbert is when his guest is talking and he starts talking right over them. I know it's part of his act, but it bothers me.

Colbert has some pretty epic moments, but on an episode-to-episode basis, it's definitely the Daily Show. Easily one of the best shows out there. Jon Stewart is the man, especially when it comes to owning:

^I remember watching this show and being really confused haha

this.

Steven Colbert is a real person. However the Steven Colbert you see on TV is a character. His on camera personality and his real personality are two completely different things. Like the post said, its a parody. And a damn good one

bill o'reilly is the only guy that can stand toe to toe with jon stewart.
i think they're both funny but i like colbert's interviews the most.

Have you seen them together recently. It's usually really entertaining because they both get their shots in at each other and are constantly laughing.

This one is a little older.

I will be honest... being of the conservative nature I usually watch Fox (can't stand the constant deepthroating that MSNBC and CNN do) but usually only pay attention to Bret Baier, O'Reilly (when Stossel comes on his show), or Shepard Smith (when he found out Balloon Boy was fake he was fucking pissed and it was awesome)

I think it is because at this point Jon Stewart is getting fucking annoyed with what is going on too and is less about party lines.

I think it was Monday but Jon Stewart basically ripped Obama, Pelosi, and the entire administration a new one for "playing the blame game" and doing nothing but PR appearances AND he ripped him for playing 7 rounds of golf. I think the clip showed up on Baier, O'Reilly, and Greta's show.

57 days before he got the ball rolling. 57 days and 7 rounds of golf before he gets out there to get the ball rolling on SOMETHING.

Jones Act... could have repealed it... the Dutch and the Norweigens had boats there, on day 3, ready to skim off the oil and keep it at bay. Nope, send them back.

They have some boats there now and what do they do with the oil they suck up? Oh yeah... they burn it. What was that about climate change and we shouldn't be burning fossil fuels? And couldn't we sell that shit?

Ha. I just think Obama needs to say fuck off to Congress and do shit his way. (Great termonology, right?)

Stewart's interview with John Yoo was done very well. Stewart makes some really good points about presidential power during war time
