The Correct Ski for Me?

Hello, my name is Ryan and I ski in the The Northeast (All the way from NJ to Vermont). I am an Advance Skier 3+ that skis

everything. but, what I'm looking for in this future pair of skis is a

ski that perfroms well in both All Mountain and the Park. I am 16

5'7, 175pounds (More Muscle Than Fat/ But a big guy) and my budget is around 300-500 without bindings. I was looking at the Line Afterbangs in the 166 size. Any help is appreciated.

171 isnt to long for someone that is 5'7? I skied 157's Last year and they were definitely to small, but 171? Thank you for the quick response though

no not at all. 171 is actually prefect. The swing weight of the ltes are low due to the bamboo/poplar core that you wont notice the extra length. As you progress the length will grow on you and you will become a better skier

I would go with a 181 if you are really a 3+ and weigh 170lbs. You should be able to handle a ski that size and anything shorter will be unstable at higher all mountain riding speeds or hitting bigger jumps. The afterbang will be cool for rails but not for anything else, if you want a ski that will ski everywhere then that is not the one for you.

Look into the:

Surface double time

K2 Revival

Salomon 2012

Liberty Antigen

Armada Halo

Line Chronic

ON3P Jeronimo

That should be a good place to start your search.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! I will look at everything posted. Thank god I asked cause yea, I mean at my local mountain its tiny but the jumps/rails are not bad, but when I head north and do the cliffs/bigger features I am convinced the extra length will help. Thanks again, now the question is are the marker gryphons any good?

Yeah, if you're 175 pounds and a decent skier I'd go with like a 176ish. Check into the armada Ar7!

First get jesters....second I really think the surface double times may be a real viable option for you....my buddy rides em east coast and loves em for all the stuff you want em for....I'd personally recommend the chronics or blends....but the good thing about the double times is their inexpensive and can handle almost any condition while still being a park slayer.

Oh and a third thing....at your height and weight I wouldn't ride anything less than a 178.....in fact right around that length would be perfect for ya.

the skis that he has now are 157s yeah he will need a longer ski eventually but building up to that. something from 171 to 176

I see your point but I had a buddy a few years ago who learned on skiboards and jumped right to 181s and after half a day was absolutely rippin....he's close to the same size and build as the op....point being that it may suck first time out but once he gets used to em it'll be all good....and he said hes 3+ type right?...def 178s....I'm not a big pusher of long skis either but if he's that good....yeah 178 is it.
