over the last few days i've seen a lot of post with people claming to take down 30 shots in one night or 25 in one hour. Heres the problem. If you were actually taking shots that would kill you. i think people need to come clean about how much rum/vodka/etc. is actually in there shot glass. Becasue if your shot is only 1/5 rum/vodka/etc, that means you took 6 shots on the night (which i consider not much at all. so my question to NS is does anyone here actually take straight up shots? And why would anyone want to take a shot thats only 1/5 of acutallly booze.

 
i prefer to drink becsaue i can always be told the stories and i usually remember the night before. I have foggy bits but nothing beats watching random chicks make the decison to cheat on their boyfriends.
 
on my 21st from 12am - 12 pm (24 hrs) i had 34 drinks.

1.5 oz spirit = 1 drink

1 Beer = 1 drink

1 mixed drink = 1 drink

i fell down a few times, got in a fight, got stiches on my face the next day, but didnt puke, i hardly do. Ive also seen and had 15 shots in an hour. sadly if your tolerance is high enough you can probably get more.
 
A shot glass filled to the line is 1 ounce. Usually there's a little more in there. It's pretty much a mouthful. When kids say that they did 30 shots, it's usually 30 sips out of the bottle.
 
I've seen a kid do 25 shots of vodka...needless to say alcohol poisoning was the end result. Probably one of the worst cases I've seen too.
 
I don't see why you wouldn't just drink it straight, I don't see the fun in drinking water. As for the 25 shots in an hour thing, I don't think that's possible without puking your own body weight. I had a liter of rum (however many shots that is) in about two hours a few months ago and the end result of that was bad. That was when it took about 8 beers to get drunk too, so you would have to have a disgustingly huge tolerance to pull that off.

The standard measurement for a shot is 1-1.5 ounces, so I usually say 1.25.

A liter is about 30 shots, but that's a rough measurement. A fifth is 22, and a liter has 250mL more than a fifth, so I just kind of did the math in my head poorly.

There are people who take that many on special ocassions, like 21 shots on your 21st, etc. But I don't think anyone does that regularly. If you take 25 in an hour, I don't care who you are, you are going to be hurting. Maybe not hospital if you're a big dude who drinks heavily and regularly, but you will be fucked up. Puking, passing out, blacking out, etc. There's no need to drink that much in a night, much less an hour.
 
I love drinking out of the bottle... the companionship if it's with a friend, the image, the feeling... but it always gets me fucked because I never know how much I'm drinking. It's lead to many fun nights and many shitty ones... kind of a bitch like that.

 
If your bar is at all competent they're using legal 1oz shot glasses, which means they're 1oz filled to the very top. Such glasses look like this:

The standardized shape allows bartenders to know exactly what measurements are in the glass so we don't have to freepour; 1/2 ounce is the same in all bars everywhere (speed spouts help too, but they're not as reliable). In BC, you aren't legally allowed to serve less than 1 oz of alcohol, so if someone short pours you ask for your ounce. That said, I don't know what the law is elsewhere.

 
I don't go to bars, I'm still in my first year of college. If you are indeed a bartender, your knowledge is definitely way more than mine, so everyone listen to this guy. That being said, I know liquor pretty well for someone who's not in the business.
 
but im thirteen and if i dont drink or smoke i get 10 000 from my relatives and i can have a good time with out drinking
 
well do what you want to do. 10k can get you a lot of shit, but your going to have trouble keeping sober when you get in high school.
 
I really wish I'd had that opportunity. Definitely do it! Not only will you be making money, you'll be saving money as well. Then I'm sure as soon as you turn 18 you'll get super shit faced and realize that you didn't miss anything by not drinking for 5 years.

I had 15 oz in an hour last Thursday and it was like the worst night of my life. I have never been so gone. Ever.

Fucking sucked cause I could have gotten laid.
 
well yeah but i have super good friends that dont care so yeah and im not going to be with me friends for most of highschool cuz i have to go to Ecuador for soccer so i think it is possible
 
yea 25 an hour is pretty impossible. I did 10 shots of bacardi in about 2 mins but felt sick for a good half hour and was content with my drunkness for the rest of the night. I think around 12-14 shots over the course of a night is my record and I have a fairly high tolerance and im a pretty big guy
 
i've done 6 shots of bacardi in 2 minutes. It was a kind of drunkenness i'd never felt before. But doing it fast kind of sucks becasue it takes a while for it to kick in and than all of the sudden your drunk when a mintue beofrey ou were compeltly sober.
 
First off, I'm all but certain a shot is 1 1/4 oz, and that is from an 80 proof bottle.

But for some people it is possible to down an obscene amount of liquor and be perfectly fine. Everybody has a different tolerance.
 
Happens to me all the time with liquor, I think my liver has Down Syndrome or something. Even if you're trying to spread out shots, you will almost always end up taking them way quicker than if you were drinking beer... at least with me.
 
You would have alot more nights passed out, puking on yourself as well. Trust me, being a cheap drunk isn't always good.
 
i was sersouly fine one second than the next i grabbed my friend to keep myself from falling over. i didn't work though.
