So I hear that there is a guy who is best in the boot world that works out of Utah...anyone know who he is? He comes up to fallfest up at big sky every year and I guess he's not going to come this year, so I need to go to him...

Anyone who has been doing it for 5+ years in a ski town is going to be pretty damn good. Just ask around your hill for recommendations.

True that! Employees can get boot fitting and modification courses and get certified, but expierence alongside a boot fitting veteran can teach you all you need to know. Ask around for what a legit shop is, many times, race orientated shops will have amazing fitters.

jim mattes(i think thats how you spell his name) in seattle is hands down the best boot fitter in the world, when i was racing i went to him and was there for 3 hours getting fitted and everything was amazing after.

in my opinion, people give bootfitters wayyyyy too much credit. if a boot fits, it fits. i, nor no one i ski with, and that includes years of racing, have ever required any more than a brief dremeling in the toebox/pressure points, which is very easy to do yourself in a plug boot, so long as youre not a complete retard.

lol ok dude. you go make a 175 lbs FIS racer with a EE wide foot with heel spurs fit a Lange ZA-ZA and tell me bootfitters get way too much credit.

maybe your foot doesn't require a lot of work in a boot but most people need work to get a proper fitting boot.

i'm going into 7 years of fitting boots and i'll tell you, bootfitters don't get anywhere near the credit they deserve.

Word...

I just thought someone would know this guys name...I wasn't asking for bootfitter advice or anything, I've spent a lot of time with bootfitters And I just heard that this guy was amazing...plus it'd give me a great reason to make a MOAB trip out of it...

jim is so dope (if I'm thinking of the right person). my boots have fit perfectly for 3 years because of him. No shinbang ever in my life until last week.

I think Boot Guy is a pretty cool guy. Eh kills rails and has good boots and dosent afraid of anything.

ive never gotten my boots fitted but i really think i should. and ive heard of larry haha. apperently hes the best^

Actually his name is Matt Manser and he works at the Ski Rack in Burlington. He's fitted boots for a bunch of pros including JP Auclair and also the entire Meathead crew. Manser is the man. Stop in and let him fix your feet and boldly mold your boots.
(also, the dude is a wizard with Full Tilts)

i might have to go to him, cuz i have yet to have a boot that fits good, and even this year i had a lot of work done on my boots and they didnt fit right. i have probably the widest footalso does anyone know about full tilts with wide feet cuz i hear that this year they are making them in normal size and wide foot size

when i raced id drive up to vt from ny to go to green mountain orthodics, that place is the tits, and my feet are fucked up mangled peices of meat.

There is a super sweet boot fitter in the Kootenay's. He works at Gerrick Cycles in Nelson, BC His name is Shawn. He seriously knows his shit.

There are plenty of great boot fitters around.
you go to allmost any ski heavy city and you will have atleast 2 who know their shit.
As this thread indicates there are plenty of people across north america (and europe too) who are amazing at working with boots. It would be really hard to say who is better then who, since most people find someone they like and stick with them.
