The "BMW" thread.

This is my new project. Picked it up for 700. Runs. Body is in awesome shape...a few shallow rust spots here and there. Just need to redo the brake lines...and that's simple. Hoping to have all the body work done, sprayed, cleaned up interior, and get it slammed on its face by H2O.

I found an E46 (2004) 325 Ci at a dealership in my town, and I was wondering how do these guys handle/speed/perform etc? Anyone here ever driven one and can give me some info?

It has 90K miles on it, white on black, appears to have some body mods.

Any help is appreciated!

make sure to get those bumpers tucked too. sweet project though! My S50, 5-Speed E34 Touring is finally wrapping up after needing the whole engine to be rebuilt unexpectedly. That shit sucked but glad to have a car back soon that makes noise and has some getup haha.

definitely check out a bmw forum or something like that. they'd have all the info you need

Oh definitely. I'll be slimming it down and probably picking up a new front valence.

So jealous of your s50. I'm going to Africa for 5 weeks in the middle of the summer, so I won't have the time or money to do it yet, but I ultimately want an s52 in it.

Related video is related. My buddy is the only authorized plasti dip vendor and shop in the greater Western Mass area and has done a few BMWs. Just mixed up a custom "boss blue" for a friend's 335xi and another friend made a pretty tight video for it.

also they did a 650 from black to red and it came out sick.

If anybody in the MA/CT area is interested in doing this, let me know and I can definitely get you a discount.

^ interesting. how long does that generally last for? specific reasons for it besides the fact that it looks fucking awesome? details matt!

I just sent him a message asking how long it lasts, I'll let you know when he tells me what's up. The benefits are that it completely protects the paint from chips, scratches and general shit. You can peel it off with your bare hands in minutes too if you get sick of it or just robbed a bank, so if you go to sell the car you don't have to find someone to buy it as a crazy color combo either, and the paint would be tits when you peel it off.

The texture is really cool too, like a satin. He also has been doing the satin clear or smoke tint on a lot of lights too from that I understand. Touch ups are a piece of cake and it's an easy and fast way to get a huge visual impact in just one day's turnaround. That 650 was bone stock at the beginning of the day, and looked fkn insane when the guy came back to pick it up. That's pretty cool if you ask me.

Basically it looks really cool, protects the paint and is a less expensive and non permanent way to spice up your garage life- without doing anything stupid that will detract from the value of your vehicle or narrow the field of perspective buyers at selling time.

He just told me that even in full new england years with road salt and shit if you properly take care of it it'll last 2-3 years.

holy shit. no kidding? i gotta say that's fucking awesome. im definitely interested in this

Tons of cool colors too. I've seen purple, red, blue, black and freakin army green among others. Custom colors, etc out the ass. When you're ready you come see me! Same guy is my hookup for car stereos, tires and rims as well as remote starters too if you need anything else.

what I really need is for the stock radio to be replaced in the volvo. big time. im looking at crutchfield to see what i want. can they install those or no?

Good christ never, EVER look at crutchfield haha... But yes, they have all that shit. If you want, the next time your Vulva is in town you should swing it through and talk to him.

Ooooohhh Huck. Depending on how much if costs/how I might definitely be interested in that towards the middle of the summer.

God I hate Plastidip...matte cars never look good.

And back onto the topic of BMW. I got to rip around in my friend's Imola Red E46 M3 today. Man was that a fun car to drive...put the pedal to the floor and you broke loose. Do want.

^ lol you join just to post that?

I agree with the plastidip comment. The matte fad should have died off many years ago. If they could make a decent gloss it would be cool but the only gloss I've seen in person was garbage.

X5's look alright but I just can't see why the heck anyone would want one. I don't understand why anyone would want a "suv" that is so incapable. Has 0 off road capacity, and the all wheel drive is pretty shitty. Buy yourself a nice speedy wagon and call it a day. Go and get yourself a jeep or something that actually can handle some off road

Haha no i just forgot my login info, but i thought i would share my car as well. The plastidip was easy and it was kinda a no brainer because of how easy it is to take it off, but i like the gloss idea.

Meh, to each his own I am mot a fan of matte either but satin looks very different IMO. I probably wouldn't pay to do it but to see a car go in all ho-hum and drive out a few hours later looking fkn incredible is pretty cool.

That and it's fun to fuck with when you have all the guns and colors. Pearls, metallics and all that jazz make for a ton of options so we keep trying different shit. It's addictive. Maybe someday the gloss won't suck, who knows.

My old boss had an SRT8, and traded it in on a new SRT8. Then he got called out of town, and somebody had to ferry his cars around the city for two days.

Those cars were the most hooligan-ish fun I think I've ever had. Really poor gas mileage though.

I don't need or want a BMW. I'm not that fancy. Neither is my dog. He likes my truck just fine.

My best friends dad owns a Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep dealership and he has a good amount of SRT8 Jeeps and I think we're gonna try and get one to use for a day or two this summer.

This is my baby

The chrome grill is now black. looks sweet

2002 BMW 325xi with about 180,000 kms on it. Costs too much to keep her on the road. another $500 sensor has to go in or it will fail the emissions test. fuck :'(
