Poles are free at the lost and found...check it out, they usually have piles of them.

I know my local hill just has a rack of poles for the renters that they are supposed to return at the end of the day. Literally hundreds of pairs and any length you could possibly want. Everyone I know just snags poles off the rental rack whenever they are in need.

Yea, videos from Mt's about skiing powder.

The guys get early ups, so they get it virgin to do the videos. That's not reality.

Once you get there, you ride down with a thousand folks and it's tracked out in 30 minutes.

That's after waiting in a lift line for a zillion hours to get first ups.

powder skiing on resort advertisements.

paging @Snowbird and @Alta and every other resort social media feed out there that posts sick brochure turns when you absolutely know it wasnt that deep or "Terrain was closed" for their athletes

Usually its tracked even before the mountain opens. I worked at a ski hill known for having the "greatest snow on earth," and all the employees would take multiple laps before it even opened. Also, the ski patrollers bomb and ski cut the shit out of every slope, so even if you somehow got to somewhere we hadn't already hit, you will be hitting avy debris and tracks from the patrollers.

Usually, the only places you are going to ski powder like that are outside the ski resort. If you are at a resort on a pow day, the pow lasts for two runs, and everyone is so stressed out it makes it less fun.

An acrobatic ski team president in Quebec stole 60,000$ from insurance fees payed by athlete parents. He scamed the team pretty good, but got caught after trying to fuck someone else over.He got 8 months for the scam

Paying to park, I get it but come on. Ticket prices are already outrageous enough let alone an additional $20 to park

Came here to say this.

GripWalk Boot Soles - they're useless and MDV forces you to buy their new bindings in order for them work

GripWalk is amazing...and no need to buy marker bindings anyhow, unless you want to try out the Duke PT which is GW compatible already.

1. Expensive jackets

2. High speed lifts. Fine with them in popular spots, but when an area with good terrain and relatively few crowds gets a high speed lift it is essentially ruined. Would rather the resort put money into, idk, paying their employees more.

3. Whistler's acreage claim. Half of it is a melt / refreeze waste land. The other half is incredible though.

i think most "profit centers" at resorts are entirely bullshit but hey, gotta pay the bills. Business is business.

Surprised nobody's said this yet but the current year's outerwear. Why would I pay $300 for a jacket when I can get last years for $120 and it's the same exact thing but a different color.

i'll let you in on a secret. that's been the case for hardgoods too for years.. graphic change is it on 90% of skis every year. Companies only change them like every 7 years.

Same goes for skis. 90% Don't change year over year yet can get last years heavily discounted
