yep its amazing. i can't believe i didn't like it the first time i saw it...i guess i was younger. it also has some of the best lines and characters i've ever seen.

You see i too saw this movie when i was young and was utterly unimpressed. Not trying to sound aloof or anything but it takes a resnoably clever joke to make me laugh.

And my memories of that movie are NOT of me laughing.

 
well there are some rather stark differences between british and american humor...i don't know if that played any part in it considering its based on some rather gritty/trashy american stereotypes. watch it again, its hilarious, it is the coen brothers afterall who tend to have their own style of wit.

Rich, You'll have to watch it a couple times to get all the in's, out's, and what-have-you's. There are some great one liners there.

i agree that one liners are for morons, but this film has a lot more than one liners, the dialogue is really well done as it can be with the coen brothers.

rich, don't confuse the focus of scuzzy america with stupid humor. the characters might be idiots, but that doesn't mean the study of them has to be.

It really is a work of art. I mean, considering what passes for a "comedy movie" these days (read: Little Nicky, Scary Movie 3, similar bullshit... basically juvenile idiocy), it really is great.

 
We play the Big Lebowski drinking game every once in awhile when we watch it. You have to drink a white russian everytime the dude does, and drink everytime you hear the word dude. It gets you wasted before the end of the movie.

HAD to bump this because i just watched it this morning with a few friends after a long night of party'ing. This has waaaay better quotes than "The Hangover" lol..this movie is one of my favs now.

I know imma get -k for this, but NPR had a bit on this lady who wrote a book on how the Big Lebowski is a parallel to the bible.
