Is it not weird that brands such as Rip Curl, who have put in significant money for sponsoring a large number of European and North AMerican events, camps like High North, skier like Steel Spence are still dismissed as bad outerwear. When i say bad outerwear i don't actually mean quality but instead, when was the last time you saw someone riding in their stuff or the last time you looked for some Rip Curl outerwear. I choose Rip Curl just as an example...for there are many more companies like this such as Obermeyer (I like obermeyer) and more...why is this? personally, I hate Brad Holmes so much i'd would never buy anything from one of his sponsors

Dude, skiing and snowboarding has become a fashion show, get the fuck over it. Rip curl maybe sick and high quality and shit, but its not trendy like oakley, orage, analog, or anon.

yeah but life is a fucking fashion show. Its no big deal, everyday you go out you make a choice on what you wear. And you know full well that choice will effect other people opinion of you befor youve even met. Think about it! Its a basic form of communication other than actually opening your dam mouth.

So stop bitching about it and wear that day glow one piece your dad has stashed away in the attic if all this fashion business bothers you so much.

^Same for me. The only store that I know that carry Rip curl is the D-Structure and they only have those damn expensive watches (think they had some shirts too one time buy meh).

Rip Curl is an Australia conpamy so is every where here in new zealand and Australia. It is like alot of the brands you guys use such as siver cartel, we never see here in New Zealand. Rip curl is reasonably priced here, and is good gear. But as rip curl is on the other side of the world, prices will be intially be high until the esablish over seas markets.

rip curl isn't great. i bought a pair of pants last winter and they only lasted me three months before the pants were ripped up and the seams were busted. i know of someone who had a rip curl jacket and the seams did the same thing. also when i contacted them about a warranty i was told they didn't have one. pretty shitty in my eyes.

Rip Curl also does more marketing in Europe, like many ppl in France wear Rip Curl and Quicksilver sweaters and shirts and everybody thinks the Quicksilver goggles r the coolest, and its probably the case with other brands it might be considered cool in one country but less in another.

Being out there skiing every day, good or bad, just playing around with friends, with no contests or filming- that is the real spirit of skiing for me. that is why i started skiing, and if i lose those moments that is what will make me stop skiing.
 
haha last season i rocked plain black campmor ski pants, and a green L.L. Bean jacket. Hows that for being trendy. I dont understand how some of these kids get enough money to buy $300+ oakley jackets. Sure they might be warm, but i can get you a warm jacket for a lot less.

^ If you lived in the NW you'd understand. Skiing when your soaking fucking wet is the most miserable uncomfortable thing possible. If you want to stay dry here you've got to shell out the skrilla.

As for me. I just buy what's the cheapest for my needs. At the end of the season all our local shops have half off sales on all their outerwear. It's a great time to pick up really nice gear for cheap. But now I work at one of those shops so I get stuff even cheaper pro deal.

yea i think the best thing to do is just get quality stuff at the end of the year. i got my oakley bullet jacket over the summer for $100 from bcstore. i could never afford to pay full retail for clothing...

but naturally some brands are gonna be more popular than others.. for one reason or another..

ive never seen rip curl or obmermyer in a stor. rip curl has some nice stuff but obermyer? come on dude they make stuff taylered to people who think its still the 80s
