The best sports city is......?

Haha. Finals are over, and I'm bored as shit.

I have no life at this time... Well aware of it man... welllll aware.

lol

new york fans are some of the most annoying fans ever. i get all the ny radio stations, and listening to them makes me want to tear my ears out.

Boston.

You know what I've seen in my relatively short life thus far? Every single team take home at least 1 championship.

I rest my case.

i think that boston is up there, if not the best. i have to throw it up for Detroit though; i am counting michigan football for Detroit sports. So you have the Red Wings, the most dominate franchise in the hl and one of the most dominate franchises in all of sports. Michigan football is one of the most historic and dominate football programs in the NCAA. Detroit Tigers have always been of high stature in the MLB. Their roots in Detroit go back to the late 1800's, and they have always been an elite team in baseball. Detroit Pistons are a pretty legendary basketball franchise; all sorts of legendary players ranging from Isaiah thomas to ben wallace. they also have 5 rings and a ton of eastern conference finals appearances. Detroit Lions blow dick, but they have a tremendous fan support here in michigan (i have to put up with it, lions are the only Detroit team that I don't like).
bold claim, i am sure it will get shat on

this millennium or the last 11 years? its not that impressive, a) nobody cares about hockey, didnt even know there was a game 7 until I saw the riots on the news b) the redsox, the face of boston sports didnt win a championship for 100 years and spend almost money as much as the yankees c) the patriots cheated to get their championships (more will come out about this in years to come) and they don't even play in boston, same as the ny teams, hell they don't even have boston or massachusets in their team name, its a fucking regional team d) the old celtics are tight but the new team will be responsible for ruining the nba, they were the first group of players to just give up on the teams that drafted them and formed their own allstar team, they werent even celtics except for pierce, now we have the big 3 in miami and another one forming this offseason, sweet. the celtics are way more responsible for ruining the future of basketball than the yankees are for ruining baseball especially since the redsox would spend as much as the yankees if they were able. boston as a city still sucks so bad in general

No offense, but you sound like a total fucking retard.

Didn't know it was game 7???

The Pats cheated to get all their rings?

Dude, put down the haterade and walk away. You fkn suck at this.

did game 7 even lead sportscenter this morning? I didnt watch but wouldnt be surprised if lebron or jeters injury was the before a shitty hockey game

im not even a new york fan just hate bostons lame attempt to be like nyc in everything when really its a lame city with a bunch of ugly ass people

during the past 6 seasons of the 4 major sports boston has atleast one championship. sox have 2. and when pats won in 04 they became a dynasty. there's no case for another city. if the city doesnt have the four major sports it shouldn't even be considered and cities like chicago and nyc have mutliple teams (neither of which see a whole lot of championships) i think boston always was the best sports city, and if it wasn't before, it certainly is now

Pittsburg for sure. No Bball but the steelers and penguins are both at the top and the pirates were good when under old management. Plus their college teams are good too. And good urban if there's any snow

HahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha... You're TERRIBLE at this and it is awesome to watch!

bahahahahaha you're argument has now lost all of its validity. Titletown, USA motherfucker. if you think there's an NFL team that doesn't dread that Pats game on their schedule you are incredibly mistaken. Boston teams do what it takes to win. were the T-wolves a championship contender when they traded for KG? how about Ray Allen? or Shaq? oh wait Shaq was well past his prime and had played for like four different teams. then there's Jermaine. he's not even a top-tier player. shut the fuck up. if you're going to compare the Sox to the Yankees you have to talk about the Phillies to who traded for Roy Halladay and signed Clif Lee (right? a year or so ago. oh and roy oswalt. we are not nyc, we never want to be like nyc. we're from a town where it's sports over everything.

you do realize that just because you and your friends don't watch hockey, it doesn't mean that no one gives a shit, right? Trust me, everyone knew it was game 7.

The pats aren't in Boston? Have you ever been to Boston? Sorry, you're right...they arent in the city center. Gillette is about a 20 minute drive out of the city.

Also don't understand your argument about regional teams, and how none have boston or massachusetts in the title.

what about the:

Boston Red Sox

Boston Bruins

Boston Celtics

Y'know, 3/4 the teams have boston literally in their name. Only bob kraft's teams don't.

which reminds me, he's right....we haven't dominated everything....the Revs haven't won the MLS title. Though by his sports standards, he probably doesn't even realize the MLS exists.

oh there's no doubt the packers are the most successful sports franchise ever. they won the first fucking superbowl, but when you take into account every other sport Boston reigns supreme. hell, BC hockey won the national championship last year.

I'm sure this has been said;

all 4 boston sports teams have AT LEAST one title in the last 10 years. Pats = 3 Sox = 1 Boston - 1 (should have been 2) now B's with 1

there really is no debate that right now Boston is the fucking shit.

the Metrodome always had extra seating for baseball games, granted that the twins were doing better this season, it is way harder to just walk up to the window at Target Field

ny championships: 39boston championships: 27

until that changes the answer is and always will be new york. if you can refute that then I will admit you're right and I'm wrong, but you cant so I win

I didnt bother counting hockey titles bc nobody cares

How many do you have this millenium? Because I know it's not 7, which Boston has.

Also, you take away the Red Sox and Boston still has 20 championships according to your stats. Get rid of the Yankees and NY has 12 championships among MORE teams than Boston has.

I mean, it's a tough point to argue because we're all huge fans of our respective sports teams, but if you want to play the numbers game, I think Boston wins. Especially in the past 10 years.

how many do you have in the last 30 seconds? we both have 0. you cant just use one period of time because its convienant to your argument

and why do people use millenium to describe what is basically just a decade?

also take away the celtics and boston has 10, take away the knicks and new york has 37, you cant just pick which sports you want to focus on. its every team from every fucking year and the score is 39-27

haha, Knicks suck. I am picking what sports to focus on. In the last 5 years New York has 2In the last 5 5 years Boston has 3. 3 against 2 wins.

I hate Boston (I respect their teams and usually their fans). Im a die hard Yankee fan, I hate the Pats & the Celts.

BUT in the last 10 years no one can deny that Boston is on an amazing Championship run. The have won all 4 major sports.

And I dont think # of Championships defines the best sports city. They certainly help but its the fans, owners, media all that shit goes into the pot.

You can't pick the best sports city in a time of celebration and winning- that's when all the bandwagon and fair weather fans come out of the woodwork.
The REAL test of a good sports city is how devoted the fans are when their team(s) are NOT winning and down in the dumps. It's incredibly easy to love your team after a win or a good season, but true fans in great sports cities are ALWAYS there.

Why is Chicago not being mentioned at all? 2005 the White Sox won. 2010 the Hawks won. The past 3 years the bulls have been in contention for the nba title, as well as the bears being contenders every year and going to the superbowl in 07. Chicago always has a great atmosphere in stadiums and arenas, everyone comes together as one during games and are very respectful of opposing teams players and people wearing opposing teams jerseys.

chicago definitely is up there. Must just be underrepresented by ns'ers.

I don't think bandwagoners should be as discredited as they are. A lot of people simply don't have time to watch 4 major sports teams. Plus some sports are ones you seem to be born into. Hockey for example. It seems like every hockey fan i know is either canadian, or they/their parents played it. But things like the playoffs attract people, and while many will stop paying attention after it's over, some do get dragged in for good which breeds generations of new fans.

And in any case, not every single person in a city of several million is going to be behind every team, every day. They may like them/hope for the best, but you have to admit, sports are a big commitment, even as a fan.I think how a city rallies around a team when the time comes is important.
