The bar.....

why do people thing its "cool" to keep the bar up? its like a helmet, it keeps you safe and warm (except the bar gives your feet and arms a resting place). btw this is not a hate thread

im not gonna fall off.(im not retarded)

areas where id be concerned about fallin off (like sketchy ass double lifts over cliffs) dont have bars anyway

its more comfortable. you can move your hands and arms around with nothing in the way, move your feet freely, and it just feels better. plus im not gonna have a seizure and fall of the lift..

you guys have spare balls. my resort has lots of noobs, so the lift stops really often. the lift swings back and thats the sketchy part.

the only time I've ever come close to falling off the lift was when the bar was being put down. Hit me in the back of the head

yeah but there are a lot of kids who could care less what forum it is in.

i too thought this was gonna be about alcohol and women.

i find it more comfortable with the bar down, otherwise it feels like my legs are streching I don't know.

i know a girl who leaned forward onto the bar, and the thing fell off. And she fell of the lift and landed in some bushes and broke her arm. Like "bone sticking out through her skin" broke.

I put the bar down sometimes, sometimes i don't. I'm just half cool.

its not about whether people put it down its the fact that nobody makes it a big deal about it when u want to. ive never seen anyone be all like man ur such a bitch for puttin the bar down. ill agree that when its noobville it gets sketchy when the lift drops like a dead bird. then i put it down, kinda like tryin to get my seatbelt on while sliding out of control into a tree. u just gotta be sneaky fast

hahaha

i put it down cause i like to rest my legs. but if ive had a run with a couple hard park bails and i feel too lazy to reach up ill leave it up.

ive once had a park crew guy working on a kicker yell at me to put it down while i was on the chair over the park.

always put it down on express lifts. one of those e-brake stops?! I seriously practically fell of a high speed quad once... but if its not express I usually don't bother, it annoys me having to balance my skis and such.

Heres another question: If you were sitting on top of a moving cliff of he same height as a chair lift, would you feel comfortable?

Thats actually completely different. I always used to but realized that its dumb and never do now.

reasons for not putting the bar down:
1: 70% of the chairs don't even have bars at 7 springs. 2: i don't even think to put it down3: IF I HAVE ANOTHER 40 YEAR OLD GAPER ASS HOLE SLAM THE BAR DOWN ON MY HEAD BEFORE I EVEN SIT DOWN I SWEAR TO GOD I'M GOING TO THROW THEM OFF THE FUCKING CHAIR.4: it's like putting your seatbelt on to move your car one spot over in a parking lot.5: its awkward to tuck your poles under your leg with the bar down.6: how often do you fall off the chairlift? never? thought so.7: we don't have bubbles or foot rests at my mtn.
reasons for putting the bar down
??????????

Lol if you don't put the bar down at my hill the liftie stops the chair, comes out and shits bricks. Makes you put the bar down for the last 2 seconds of the ride and threatens to call the mounties. So we ride with the bar down.

no, you're just a stupid bitch who thinks everyone that keeps the bar up is trying to be some sort of bad ass.

well alta doesn't have bars and most of the time it doesn't matter.... but sometimes it gets crazy windy and my one lifes turn into boeing 747 wings and I have to hold on for dear life. that would be the only time i would like it

i wear my seat belt at all times

I never have the bar down because

1) not many of the chairs that have bars have footrests as well

2) inhibits my movements while riding the chair (switching lenses, sitting on poles, grabbing my skis and stretching, etc)

3) even at my most drunk and passed out, i still had the ability to stay seated in a chair.

i hate getting hit in the back of the head with the bar and my hill doesnt have foot rests so i dont see the point to it, i can sit in a chair all day at school without falling why would i fall off a chairlift

the only time i was really glad to have the bar down was at sugarbush when going between mountains because its sooooo fucking tall. also, if its at the end of the day and the bar has foot rests, then ill use it if im getting tired
