i really fucked myself up first time out. i forgot how to pop, i totally forgot what to do.

how sould your body be positioned?

can i get detailed information from you guys? youd just be progressing the sport by helping a fellow skier out.

okay okay, i know EXACTLY what you're goin thru. My friend recently got back into skiing, and he wanted me to teach him how to learn some newschool stuff. Anyways, he had trouble popping at first too. These people are saying 'just jump' because its like riding a bike, once you learn, you can't forget. How i taught him was to start on a little table, and only use your knees and hips to pop, not flail your arms or anything like that. Just drop your butt and bend your knees as you approach the jump, and once you are about to go off, spring your body straight up by straightening your legs and get your knees bent again for landing.

yeah exactly what the person above me said, just crouch down and jump when you get to the lip of the jump, not hard at all

i keep going backseat and lossing control in the air. should i have my shoulders over my knees or something? i cant flex forward with the skiboots on, thier too stiff.

 
if you want to not land backseat heres a little old school advice get in a crouched position with both arms extended straight out, when you reach the lip of the jump push off hard using your legs, fully extend. then in the air extend so you are standing straight up with your arms to the side now in a T. you will look stupid but it will help your air sense and such. after you get that good, you can start getting more compact and going for grabs and stuff, but if you start losing your balance just do that a few more times, you will look like an idiot, but hey you already are one seeing that you ski. hahaha.
