The answer to "what binding"

I'm not, i bought a pair of STH 13s a couple weeks ago for $120 nib. I've never broken a binding and find pivots to be unnecessarily fiddly. They're not only expensive to purchase up front but if you snap a brake you're out another $120.

I understand people like the feel of pivots and the metal ones are durable but this isn't just a straight cost benefit analysis.

If you're doing rails all the time, any binding will outlast the skis they're on anyway... think people knacker the brake on pivots cause they have brakes that don't fold away inside the width of the ski, and some people also seem to have brake width on the ski that's far too wide so they hang way out there and get snagged in their trousers, skis, and other stuff. This is what results in them getting trashed, I've had pivots on the same skis for 7 years and no issue with them failing, or being fiddly. The brakes are 95mm width nominally but fit perfect on a 96mm wide ski.

I have bentchetler 100s, im 14 weigh 135 and am 5'9.5" and used to do racing what bindings should I get?

Attack 13/14

STH/Strive 13/14

Pivot 14/15

There are some deals floating around on Attacks and strives...pivots are usually a bit pricier.

Good touring bindings are not cheap. The moment voyager line is the upgraded atk.

if you’re looking to save money hunt down a resale of some used gear. You’ll usually find touring stuff let go for thr low.

And something like shift or kingpinn? They would be at around 350€ i don’t really mind a little bit more weight but for sure less is nice

A lot of people hate shifts. Tons or pre release with those. Even the new version people don’t seem to be super thrilled with.

kingpinn for the right price wouldn’t be bad.

id still try to find a lightly used atk or voyager over those.

You can usually find great deals on Marker Alpinist 12's. About as beefy as you can reasonably expect for a 270g binding

what binding should I get on my bdogs for next year? I currently run pivot 12s, and really like them, but I want others input

Hey everyone! I recently got a pair of Armada BDogs in 172 and now I'm trying to decide a binding to go with it.

My options are: Strive 12/14, Griffon 13 or Attack 14

At 177cm, 65kg I'm a rather light person, currently on DIN 6,5/7 and officially because of my stats even if I'm in the "expert" category regarding DIN I won't go over 8. Even if I crank it up more on my own because of park skiing and hitting lots of rails I don't think I'd ever go over 10.

If I go with a 12 DIN I still have 2 between maxed out and my DIN which is nice to not put too much tension on the springs getting to the extremes. The same would be true for the other bindings, even more so actually. Am I on the right train of thought here? Could I possibly get too close to the extremes? What type of stuff would I need to be doing to even get close to 12?

The Strive 12 (€ 80 in red/orange) seems like a very good choice given what people say + the price... low stand height, neutral stance, relatively wide toe piece, easy step in (similar to Warden?) I could get the 14 (beige) for € 100 but I fear that it being 5-14 I'm getting close to the lower end of my current DIN ?

The Griffon 13 (€ 140) sound very good too: higher DIN range by 1 (compared to Strive 12), lot's of colors to choose from, really good reviews but also some rather negative comments (mainly regarding stepping in although I'm not sure if this applies to the "newer" models too) but yeah all together not bad I guess ?

And then the Attack 14 for € 130 (black/white colorway). I've barely heard anything bad about them but I did just read on Reddit something about the stopper being drilled into the ski? Would someone mind explaining that a bit? This idea does bother me a bit, but should it? That said, the Attack has the biggest DIN range (4-14) which is a very nice thing to have and give some peace of mind & the toe piece is wide which is nice nice for power transfer & having a good platform.

Not sure if this should be a deciding factor, but one thing I noticed is that the Griffon and the Strive come with a 100mm brake while the Attack 14 is available in 95mm. Given the Bdog is 94mm I guess the Attack brakes would fit snugger ? Am I onto something here?

Any thoughts about it? Anything to keep in mind? Thanks a lot for reading!

i'd say attack 14 (you'll need to elaborate on the issue you heard about on reddit though, do you mean people having issues with mounting them?). the strive is pretty new so we don't how they'll fare long term but they're the successor of the STH so i would hope/think they'll work well. and i haven't heard anything negative about them so far

griffons are fine but i don't like markers. weird spiky heelpiece, not the most amazing track record, plus i just think they're ugly. lots of people love em though. you can't go wrong with any of these choices

still deciding on what to buy for a park ski, but think i want to get protectors for it. currently ski pivots on my enforcers and protectors seem like a straight upgrade to me, especially if I'm gonna be trying stupid stuff. found the protector attack 13s on sale for $270, any reason i shouldn't buy them while i decide on what ski?
