The answer to skiers thumb (and other thumb injuries)

after jamming and hyper-extending my thumbs countless ammounts of times i finally injured it enough to have to wear a splint for a good while.. i got a new one from this little physicall thereapy shop in pc, utah has a woman that makes these things and i got one today. she was telling me how tons of pros have come in and got them and how she sells over 400 per season usually. she said that some people come in even when they're not injured and just get them kind of as a safety thing. anyway i think it kicks ass, it fits perfectly under my glove and i can still hold a pole. i'm going to keep no-poling it through the end of this week and my thumb is fully healed (its still pretty weak)

the red velcro strap makes it where you can take it on and off or loosten it to type at the computer like i am now. they're sick.

i had to wear one exactly like that when i broke my thumb last year, ruptured the tendon and shit had sergury (sp). I had a normal looking cast that was removable luckily then i moved onto something like that they are so much more convenient (sp) ha shitty spelling tonight

that splint is the shit. I know people that have them. My doc gave me a full on wrist/thumb splint. Haven't really worn it at all... b/c it sucks. Thumb is still fucked though.. damn it. Its been since November!

i broke my thumb on the first day this season and i bought a cheap metal splint for 3 bucks and i rebroke it 3 times before it finally healed, but now it doesnt bend all the way, and its kinda sideways, i guess i shoulda gone to the doctor

ya i got something like this last season because i had skiers thumb they work like a charm you barely feel it. i don't think the same person made mine but it looks kinda the same

I need one or one for each thumb. Yesterday I fucked for the 100000 time my left one, and my right one is sure to follow. Please give me some way to contact the builder of those bracers.

its been 5 1/2 months since i injured my thumb and its still super weak. it has no support anymore, i need to get one of those

i fucked my thumb up big time when i was in breck. i pretty much couldnt move it at all, i dunno what i did never did go to a doctor. that was in march, by the beginning of may it was fully healed. i just tried to use it as much as possible and i guess it worked....

probably 50% of regular freestyle skiers have broken their thumb and not done anything about...including me...alot. i hate thumbs

just don't wear your pole straps (which turns out to be a bitch), dont use poles, or there is a diagram somewhere on here that shows you how to put your poles on properly so that you dont break you thumb.

dude i got the exact same thing when i tore a ligament in my thumb last season. still used poles and everything, no trouble. sooo handy and prevents injury very well

that thing looks like the cast i had when i almost chopped my left thumb off last summer. except i had a tiny sling with pulley attached to exercise my extensor tendon.

its when you kinda hyperextend your thumb, sometimes your pole can do it, it hurts like hell and can bother you for a really long time

ive messed up my thumbs a bunch of times and just used that medical tape stuff. it works pretty well, i just cant think of getting something like that, i would lose it or not put it on the 1 time i need it

No poles is fun, but this really doesn't seem to happen too much to me, so I haven't had to deal with it. Nice idea though, that looks legit.
