The amount of gear made/stocked by some companies shocks me...

So recently I have been astounded by the sheer volume of outerwear and gear that Backcountry.com stocks. Just on tramdock was Oakley Pipe gloves, just standard cheap gloves that cost $30 (available for $10). What blew me away though was the number available was 492!!!!!!!! Holy crap. First, did someone at Backcountry.com really say "hey, I bet there are well over 500 people who prefer Oakley's simple glove style to any other glove out there"? Pretty odd to me. You may be thinking "hey, that isn't that crazy". But clearly, if it is June and they are still trying to get rid of 500 pairs, they are in trouble. So interesting to me. Usually Oakley goes with the idea of being more limited and therefore seemingly more elite with their outerwear. So much for that :) Sorry, I can't sleep and have to get up sooner than I'd like. hence, threads like this.

I bet what happened was Oakley couldn't sell 500 pairs of gloves so they phoned up Backcountry and sold them for a severely discounted price.

It's kind of an inside the business thing. Alot of the employees havent even been told yet as far as I know. But suffice it to say, enough mom and pop shops have made their feelings known about BC's bellow MAP pricing that accounts are being pulled and you will be lucky to see anything but last seasons gear at BC.

Imagine BC becoming action sports Marshalls....

that s exciting, and a bummer at the same time... BC has hooked up so much cheap gear for me, but I know that supporting the small shops is what's important for skiing. so I'll give that an
"eh"

Yo are seeing 09/10 product popping up all over the internet for sale now...

...any at BC?

You may see some, but the limit placed by companies, and the prices at which is it sold are going to be very closely monitored. AKA, pretty much retail until after the holidays, then pricing will break and retailers can put gear on sale.
