With the MLB playoffs starting in about 3 weeks I want to hear your predictions. I think the Twins are gonna keep rallying and take the 1st seed play the rangers then go all the way. The only team I think they would have a lot of trouble with is the Yankees. In the NL I think the Phillie's are gonna make to the world series and lose to the Twins. In my opinion then National League has nothing on the American League with the exception of the Rangers. Discuss.

First I'm pretty sure no matter what the Twins play the rays or the yankees because MLB prevents two division teams playing eachother right away in the play offs...though the number 1 seed would most be impacted for us if we can make it to the ALCS

Second.....Derek Jeter played that perfectly...why is this such a big deal...since day one of baseball you are taught that you do anything it takes to get on base....Derek Jeter doing that is the same as a basketball player flopping or a soccer player flopping to get a call in their favor it just happens.

Third....Twins vs. Phillies world series...Twins in 7

Not so much an opinion on who will win but more on playoffs in general. I seriously think MLB should expand the amount of teams it lets in, but cut the regular season by 30-40 games. Not only would it be more interesting to more cities bringing in more money, excitement and attention into an unfortunately slowly dying sport. Plus it would cut down on all the meaningless games. The only races that have true playoff implications right now are the NL west and NL wild card and there are only 4 teams that are involved. Maybe I'm just pissy though cause the jays have sucked for so long and it's hard to cheer for them when the playoff hopes evaporate in late may/early june.
back to the thread ill cheer for the phillies cause i got mad love for doc n/h

Not even cut 30 or 40....i say just play the regular season into the first week of september then start the playoffs.

also add one additional wildcard team to the AL and NL and the first over all seed would have a bye (like the NFL) if there was one more wild card team there would be mad races right now.

Yankee fan so obvioulsy rooting for them. But the Rays are a solid team. They still play like they have something to prove. Texas is great again. AL race is going to be a good one.

Im kind of pulling for SF in the NL. I like their pitching.

the AL side is gonna be interesting, I wouldnt mind seeing both the Rays and Yankees going out first round - and thats not cause im a Jays fan i just think itd be more exciting without them

Yes fucking sir.. My guess so far is that no one in this thread knows what their talking about when it comes to baseball. The Rockies have been on fire. Carlos Gonzalez is leading the NL with a .341 average with Troy Tulowitzki right behind him with a .325 average. Tulo has had three two home run games in the past three weeks!! The Reds are falling apart because they have no pitching to back up their offense. The Padres have been blowing a big one in September and are going to come in Third in the NL west right behind the Giants and Rockies. If the Rockies keep playing the way they are though they'll win the title for sure.

First off. Fuck the Padres! I want to see Giants take the NL West and the Braves take the wild card. As far as who wins the world series, I don't have a clue. I want to see te Giants get to the world series and then we can go from there. I don't think the Yankees will be making it to the world series, but who knows I can't stand the whole fucking AL. I'm not worried about the Reds but I would be very worried about the Padres. Braves are tough, but the Phillies would be the biggest challenge for the Giants. Fuck the AL, NL wins the World Series. Come on Giants!

I guess I don't know a lot about baseball...

The Rockies are on fire right now and have a legitimate chance though I believe they will have to win their division to make it to the playoffs...the braves pitching is struggling but I believe they will step it up and hang on to that wild card spot.

As for the NL as a whole...I don't think they could match with the Yankees, Rays or Twins.....

Historically the Yankees and the Twins rape the national league....just look at the W/L during interleague play. and the Rays are a great team as well.

Twins are streaking just like the Rockies...going for 10 in a row tonight, just swept the White Sox, I'll also take the Twins pitching over the Rockies any day.

Best team in the NL to make it to the world series is the Phillies...you can't beat that pitching and Cole Hammels is a playoff stud.

Twins vs. Phillies world series.

Not even because I'm a Twins fan...Twins owned the rangers, I believe they won the season series in Tampa (and the twins are still great in a domed stadium) they lost the season series to the yankees but they played them way early in the year. The yankees pitching is struggling and andy pettit isn't back yet.

If the Twins can get the number one seed in the AL its all set.

I would ignore what that guy said hahahaha. I would concur with your playoff assessment. The Giants and Rockies are hot, but the ESPN heads are creating a good bandwagon stage for them. Pitching has always, and will always, will win in it in the end. Rarely does a team with huge offence do anything against a team with a pure, nasty, disgusting starting rotation and bullpen.
I'm a Yankees fan and I will admit they won't be doing shit in the playoffs if they continue with their lack of run production and having CC being the only one doing work pitching wise. I have personally picked the Twins as the sleeper. Why? Because I feel they are the most consistent team out there right now. Looking over the season they have had few losing streaks and have a strong command of the Central AL right now. If their pitching staff can stay gold in the playoffs and the offence keeps doing what it's been doing, they have a pretty solid chance. It just amazes me how little the talking heads on ESPN recognize this. Overall, their team is a much stronger team than the one the Yankees rolled over last year (despite that really, really terrible foul ball call). Moreover, the Twins are also sneaking their way closer to that best record and home field.
With that in mind, I would say Twins vs Phillies is a very real possibility. The NL is a mess though (but in an exciting good way), and I feel there will be some big upsets coming.

The Giants, however, have one of the best rotations in the MLB, if not the best.

Lincecum, Zito, Cain, Baumgarner, Sanchez? So good. They haven't had the season they had last year, but they have twice the run support this season.

Indeed, I can't believe I forgot to mention that. The NL is crazy as shit right now. It is going to be down to the wire in the NL that is for sure. However, I love postseasons that have some excitement and the chances for huge upsets. The teams that can keep their pitching solid, and follow that up with decent run production, will do big things. Unfortunately, the Yankees pitching has been garb as of lately and their offence has followed the same suit. In any case, I'm just a fan of sports in general and like to watch great games being played. Hopefully this postseason will deliver.

i am ashamed and appalled that no one on this thread has even metioned the Fightin Phils. all the injurys rallied the whole way back to the best record in the nl and have the best 3 man rotation going into the post season

in the AL Twins and Rangers are pretty much set for divisions and the I'm predicting the Rays will take the east with the yanks taking the wild card

i dont really see anything changing, so Twins, Rangers, Rays, and yanks

Rays will take the league

and I dont really get to watch the NL much being a Tigers fan, the race is still pretty tight but whoever they end up with will still ultimately succumb to the Rays

That is a hell of a rotation...though which one will sit is my question because very rarely does a team use a 5 man rotation in the playoffs. The giants just got to keep that run support coming.

Though I'll still say the Phillies with Halladay, Oswalt and Hammels is the most legit. They also have a mean line up which is the reason I think they will represent the NL in the world series.

I can only laugh at your retarded statement...any ways i would love to see the Twins win it all (Jim Thome deserves a ring). The NL West is crazy. If the Rockies bounce back from their stint with the Padres and get hot again who knows what will happen. I mean CarGo and Tulo are hitting seeds, and the bottom half of the lineup helped tonight. The Giants rotation is ridiculous (IMO the best in the NL). It's going to be exciting to watch. Baseball is the shit, go Rockies!

Also I don't think anybody's bullpen can match the twins bullpen and there starters have been doing great lately Deunsing has been strait fire, Pavano has been great all year, Liriano has been great and Blackburn has been pitch really well after getting called back up with exception of last night.

Twins unfortunately lost last night 3 - 1 to the Atheletics ending their 9 game winning streak. Though it was a good outing for Nick blackburn as he is looking to be that fourth man in the playoff rotation which should go, Fransisco Liriano, Carl Pavano, and Brian Dunesing. Even with the Twins losing last night the White Sox were spanked by detroit so the twins magic number is now down to 7.

The Padres, Giants and Rockies are all in a mess in the NL West. Which should get even more exciting as the Giants have a series with the Rockies and the Padres at the end of the year. Right now it looks like this

Giants

Padres 0.5 games back

Rockies 1.5 games back

I think it should be insanely fun to see how that divison plays out it really is anybodys.

The Cardinals could make it into the playoffs but no games remaining for them to play the reds and they have issues with in the club house.

The Braves could make a legitimate run at the Phillies as they have two more series with them here at the end of the year...and that could make things interesting in the wild card as the Padres(1.5 back in wild card) and Rockies (2.5 back in wild card) could charge and take over that wild card spot leaving only one team from the NL east for the playoffs.

Then NL has more hype right now by far...its fun to watch. When every game matters in baseball thats when its the best.

Rocks up 5-0 on the Dodgers right now. Tulo is 3-3 and has another 2 homers.. thats 4 2 home run games in the past 10 games.....Holy Fucking shit this guy is on fire right now

how do i have no idea what i am talking about?

as of right now the rockies are 1.5 games out of the NL west right now. They are 3.5 games out of the wild card. They have 2 teams ahead of them in the NL west and 2 in front of them in the wild card. they do not play either of the teams in the wild card again this season so they dont have the chance to leapfrog the Braves or the Padres.

the rockies close the season out playing the cardinals that is no gimmie series. The Padres and Giants both close against each other. Yes it is possible for the rockies to make the playoffs. but they are gonna have to have luck on their side.

and i wasnt trying to call you out or anything, i was just pointing out what they are up against.

and not that i trust it completely but according to espn the rockies have a 19% chance of making the playoffs. coolstandings has them 16%. this takes into account the remaining schedules of the teams, probable pitchers, ect.

the rockies did have that huge surge a few years ago and tulo has been on fire, but in the end i just see the Padres or Giants winning the NL west and the braves clinching the wild card.

the fact that the NL wildcard race has a better record than the NL west division leader still makes me snicker a bit haha. but i guess it just points out how close the division has been. but at this point, even with how apparently close the division seems, it is true it will take A LOT for colorado to make it to the playoffs..

either way i see the giants topping the san diego child molesters and the colorado jewbirds to earn their seed
