whats with people calling pro's bitch for getting frustrated? Its human nature, simon was frustrated with halfpipe comps this year and he took a load of shit for it, but at the beginning of the year jon olsson was super frustrated with rails (when he was training them at i believe keystone early season) and couldent get full pretzels on the DFD totally down and got super mad. Theres nothing wrong with that, and theres nothing wrong when simon gets frustrated. People just try to find the skier thats blowing up the biggest at the moment and hate as much as they can.
 
No without Dumont there would be no Empire. Without Tanner there would be no Armada. Without other various founders there would not be various companies. No, NS isn't the entire freeskiing population there are many skiers who are not a part of NS so shut up. There was freeskiing before NS and there will be freeskiing after NS. Stop being ignorant.

I had a couple freinds that went to a salomon photo shoot with sammy before he blew up, from what my freinds said sammy destroyed simon on the rails and simon was a huge dick about it. Tons of people have accounts of simon being an asshole, plus all of the cocky interviews im going to have to say he probablly is one.
 
So you're making a lot of sense. Because i can actually afford a decent laptop that has a touchscreen which is dubed as a tablet pc you have to go on a bitchfit. Congrats, you're a "deutsch".
 
one last thing, because i just wana name drop. It was at breck, and he was still very funny and nice that day, he just got frustrated he couldn't do a trick, he knows not to let his skiing affect his personality. I was there with him

yeah its sweet he broke the record, but being good at something doesnt gain my respect, or the respect of most other people, he has a shitty, cocky attitude, and his skill cant make up for it.
i like him as a skier, just not as a person.
 
just watch his segment from high 5, the songs lyrics, "move aside and let the man roll through" while he is pushing peoples hands away while going up to the x games podium thinking he is a total badass. the amount of sucking his own dick he does in that segment and all the time should show how cocky he is and how huge of a tool he can be.
 
I love how people decide they want to hate on a pro skier.... like Dumont.... when they don't know shit about the guy. Its blind hatred.... like the Nazis. hahah I mean really, who the hell cares. They're all damn good skiers, some of them put off a public image that is kinda cocky, but I bet half the haters on this website would be even more cocky if they were in that position. I'm not sayin you have to like the guy, but damn if you don't know someone, its stupid to pass blind judgement like that. For all you know Dumont isn't a bad guy. Til the day I meet him and he is a total asshole, he's got my respect.

I think we all have to agree that Simons feat at sunday river was absolutely amazing. He's bringing publicity for our sport to crowds that normally never here a word about it and theres no doubt that hes a driven individual trying to progress the sport. Now, whether hes a tool or a dick off camera has fucking jack shit to do with this and seem irrelevant to the topic. Personal opinions about the guys personality shouldnt really be relevant to the topic. Hes well mannered at comps and in front of the camera and while ive heard he may be a dick off camera at times im just not seeing the correlation in these arguments. I duno if i clearly stated my point but does anyone agree with what im trying to say?
 
haha u cant e-diss me im 14! and from a few accounts in this thread, simon sounds like a stuck up tool, he may be good at skiing but i dont give a fuck how good u are if your attitude sucks!
 
yeah he may be well mannered on camera most of the time, but him being fake on camera doesnt mean he should get respect, i have met him a couple times, and just seen him skiing atleast 15 days just this year. one of the times when i met him he was pretty cool, he was just acting normal, but the other time he was just being super cocky. and when ive seen him skiing through the park, almost every day i saw him he was either being super cocky, or a total dick. ive seen him cussing at kids for not using poles atleast 5 seperate times this year.
this thread is thanking simon for being good for the freestyle skiing community, but he really isnt at all, he is a really good skier, but he really isnt the type of person we need to be the face of our sport. his attitude fits in with football jocks, not happy fun loving skiers.
 
Yah i could see him being like that off camera and friends of mine have said he is like that, i can see what your saying, all im trying to say is while he may not deserve our respect for his personal attributes his feats as a skier (personality completely set aside) hes bringing more attention to our sport which has to be looked at as a good thing. While id much rather see someone with a personality like colby in the fore front of skiing publicity at least there is more publicity in skiing thanks to simon.
 
yeah respect him as a skier, just not as a person. while his skiing is good for the sport, his attitude isnt, they should just show him skiing and not talking.
and yeah colby is a MUCH better person to have as the face of freestyle skiing.
 
How long ago was that? 5-6 years? People mature and change. Simon has changed a lot and matured a lot over the past years. Think of how many cocky 15-16 yr olds are on this site. A TON!

And as for him hating on no poles... c'mon, it's skiing, if you dont want to use poles then strap on a snowboard. I have heard SO MANY big name pros hate on people in the park for using no poles. So dont single out Simon. Chances are he has offered to give you his poles so you dont look like a tool skiing w/o poles, which I have seen done on many occasions.

Stop the hate, what Simon is doing right now and in the past few years will only benefit the sport. He was on Good Morning American, ESPN's "First Take", and will be on the Ellen Degeneres show this week. Think of how much exposure that is bringing to our sport.

and the hate on no poles is retarded, skiing doesnt need sticks to be skiing, all you need is ski's. and in the park, poles are probably the most useless thing you can have.
and the other pro's hating on no poles are all the big guy's like peter, simon, and jon. you gotta admit that group, even jon, have pretty big ego's and can get pretty cocky, and with a big ego comes the mentality that your way is the best. so of course they are gonna hate on no poles, i heard peter hate once, and other than than that simon is the big hater.
if i had a shitty attitude and let shit get to my feelings the way shit gets to simon, i could hate the shit out of him and his shitty competition steeze skiing. but i dont cause thats how he wants to ski and to each his own. i may not always like it, but atleast me as well as all the other skiers out there dont have the emotions of a 5 year old girl, and start crying everytime we see something we dont like.
plus half the skiers using no poles in breck/keystone, have wayyyy more steeze than any of those big name guys will ever even dream of having. shit half the pros' now are starting to use no poles too and they are showing simon up.
and yeah i atleast like that simon is trying to get freestyle skiing out there, but if he is gonna be the face of our sport he definatly needs to change his attitude and his extreme cockyness, its gonna make us look like a bunch of tools.
right now i seriously would rather have ANY other pro be the person on talk shows and shit. simon is the last person i would want representing us.
the funny thing is that he doesnt represent us, he represents like 1% of the newschool skiing community. if we wanted someone to actually represent us it would be someone like pep, pollard, tj, tim durtschi, sammy, etc... who do a little bit of everything, and whose mentality is more about having fun than winning and getting money.

 


Breaking the QP record is so sick and such a huge accomplishment but that does not change the fact that he is a jerk to everyone and is way too full of himself. Like SkierSteve said he shouldn't be the face of our sport.

I've had personal experience as well as my friends to testify that he's a douche bag, so shut up.

 
wow dick post -karma and Simon and Jon put together a innovative comp this year i belive, something like North American tour or something, i cant remember.
 
yeah and in this "innovative" na open they told everyone that they better not see anyone going no poles, way to be innovative by not letting people ski how they want and have fun.
 
Simon has done some amazing things for skiing. He won a gold medal at x games when he was just 16!!! i am nearly 16 and i have been working really hard to get better at skiing for a while and it i am nowhere near as good as him. he must have been extremely dedicated to it when he was really young. secondly, simon has done so much for freeskiing. i was riding up with some people from like illinois or something and i told them i was always riding the park and the pipe and they related that to simon dumont. they had seen him on espn in the pipe. they thought it llooked really cool.

simon can definetly be a dick but really who never has a bad day. most people only see him while he is super stressed or tired or something. i was gone from my house for one solid month this winter for comps and i would sometimes get pissed really easy. i am not even a pro and don't haveas much traveling or stress from fans and media and big sponsors to do really well. i can't even imagine what it would be like to be away from home all winter. how many of you guys trash talking him have spent a whole day just chilling with dumont. i doubt anyone talking shit about simon has chilled with him like a true friend. you have prolly yelled at some gaper in the park or made fun of some kid with out poles or something along those lines.

simon is one of the best riders out there. it would be amazing to be anyone and have no one talk shit about you. some one would always find something wrong with you and criticize you. i am not trying to stick up for simon i am just trying to show you a different side. i was at nao and my friend colby was throwing the sickest, run. it was like switch right 9 double mute rodeo 5 to switch double front or something like that and simon saw it and it still wasn't good enough. i thought he deserved it but simon didnt'. i thought he bein a dick but w/e. you can't always win. simon is great for this sport but who can be perfect.

Seriously, I don't care who the fuck you are you don't have the right to say that. First of all, very few of you have ever spoken with the guy. Then there are few people in this industry doing more for skiing than dumont. Yes he competes alot, and guess what comps progress skiing arguably the most. And he wins these comps, and for this you guys rag on him for being a jock and being way to serious about it? You can't not be as victorious as simon and not have a hard work ethic. Sure he isn't the styliest skier alive, but he holds those grabs fucking long. This cycle of NS always finding a pro to hate on is getting fucking pathetic, and I've only been here a year.

So once again, whoever is hating on simon, go fuck yourself.
 
sweet he is a good skier, good for him, that doesnt mean he is a good person, ive met him several times, i have friends who have talked to him several times, tons of the people in this thread have talked to him, and almost everyone agree's that he is a cocky asshole. this isnt just coming from nowhere for no reason, its a known fact that simon has an attitude problem.
i dont care how much skill you have, if you have a really shitty attitude your a fag. doesnt mean he is a bad skier, he just sucks as a person,.

I'm not competing against him anytime soon, so I guess I won't have to worry about him complaining about a competition. as long as he brings in cash for skiing like shaun white did for boarding, then I think we can all be happy, unless you're a "rebel" who doesn't want skiing to have more cash.
 
you are an idiot man. you obviously werent at the north american open where simon did a great job of hosting and being really courteous to everyone as well as professional in hosting the actual comp. yea he might have been a dick, but people mature bro, hes not 16 anymore and in case you didnt hear the open he hosted was one of the best that ever went on all year.
 
so i find it kind of funny how there are all these kids who are bashing on simon because he is a "douche" or a "tool" but yet none of you actually know simon dumont personally so how can you judge him. if you judge everyone on one time in their life then you could say that everyone in the world is a tool because of that one thing that they do. so basically everyone needs to chill out and care about yourself. skiing is about have fun and being yourself, but most people on this website have clearly forgotten thet.
