With simon gaining the world record skiing is being recognized in a lot of parts of society that it normaly wouldn't. This is a big step for skiing and gaining the respect it deserves.

Ive seen three day time tv shows feature something on him and his feat
 
it's just too bad the biggest tool in the sport had to do it. Jon needs to start doing things for just himself instead of throwing the most impressive/innovative competitions ever.

He is a selfish, super-ego, deutsch bag. If you've ever seen him in real life, and you've seen the way he interacts with competitors and spectators, you would hop off that tiny little dick hes got. He's good at skiing, and that fact allows him to put himself on a superhero pedestal. Thats all hes got going for him.

you want our sport to grow and be cooler, yet you call out one of the biggest names in the sport as being a tool. He is getting the industry a shitload of publicity, all over the world, and thats what you bring... come on buddy. And as for the real life thing, I watched him give out his poles, jersey, trophy, and other stuff to little kids who idolize him at the 48 Straight Superpipe comp...YEAH HES A DICK...and if your gonna bag on him calling him a tool and such, you better be able to back it up with some skils.

Word...Jon, Sammy, or Andreas would be so much better. Dumont is good at skiing, but every interview or times I've heard him speak, he sounds like a dick.

met him at keystone and he was super chill -just another example of why ns is a posee of 13 year olds who make a name in our sport by talking shit and prolly can't even do a 3(not saying this kid can or can't tho)

and a buddy of mine competed in WSI against him. Dumont basically said it was the biggest waste of a contest, the money pot wasn't big enough and that it wasn't too good, whatever.

I feel that that's a dick move, and talking trash to kids isn't a good way to be looked up to either.

I would love for Candide to be the face of skiing. He is the nicest guy I ever met on skis. He was at Breck's pipe last year watching this 5 year old (ya I know, this little kid was awesome). The kid kept falling trying to 3 and Candide just stood there and watched a few times before asking the kid to ride with him for a lap and showing him how to do it. Such a nice guy, and that might be the best 5 year old skier I've seen too.
 
If ANY of you watched the interview, he did say that part of the reason he did it was to get over his fear of quarterpipes. That makes him a tool?

Huge props to Simon for busting his ass 35 feet high and making our sport look attractive to the average people who doesn't give a shit about freeskiing.

maybe simon should respect his other skier competitors (who aren't as good as he is).

but yeah, props for the huge QP boost. He's a crazy skier, it just seems from all the accounts I've heard of competitors dealing with him, or my friends' accounts of meeting him, that he isn't that interesting nor that nice of a guy. But maybe he was in a bad mood, who knows.
 
I think Simon is maturing. Seems like a lot of young extreme athletes go through that tool/dick/jerk/idiot phase and Simon is getting over it. He'll be a good frontman for our sport in a year or two. In the meantime, he's a extraordinary skier.

second... the guy puts our sport in the spot light. The general public has no idea what a sw right flat 7 is... but they know that if you're 50 feet in the air, its probably a cool thing.

I haven't ever seen him be a "deutsch", I see him get his ass handed to him by Tanner at the X games and react like a man, and a competitor. I also see him pushing the physical limits of the sport... there are only a few people in the world who have the mindset that allows you to do that.

If you dont have anything cool to say about the bro... then give your respects, and shut it.

Wrong, NS is a bunch of 13 year olds who want to get on simons dick because hes good at skiing, my home mountain is keystone, ive seen at least ten times this season, not once did i see he do something as cool as what Candide apparently did, however, i did see him be a dick to kids multiple times, me included. He deserves none of my respect, this sport goes beyond being good and getting media attention. In simons mind, skiing is money and fame, thats it.

You dont know shit about NS, shut the fuck up. NS gets the most respect out of any site, person, company, etc. A whole hell of a lot more than simon, thats for sure

and this is no longer worth my time, i was OK with simon until i saw the real him, and i was severely unimpressed. Jon on the other hand, is genuinely trying to progress the sport, not trying to start a bullshit company and capture some world records.

 
Can you please shut up before you give all Joe's a bad name on this site. I love how you say a site gets more respect then a professional skier sponsered by multiple companies. Not dissing NS but if I had a decision to make I would listen to simon over the majority of this population which is 13 year old children like this Joe up here trying to act tough by talking shit about a pro just because its what everyone is doing. Is that respect from all those 13 year olds you speak of? So your saying this site does more for the ski industry than say....Salomon? or Oakley, or Red Bull or Smith or Scott....Thats right I do see Newschoolers bring in way more money than them...and influence...your right i forgot that NS is sinking hundreds of thousands dollars into movies, and marketing and magazines....maybe if you thought a little less about name calling, you would realize these things.
 
yeah simon is a really really good skier, ill give him props for that, but if there is one word to describe him, tool works perfectly.
ive seen him skiing probably 15 days this year and almost every time he has this super crappy vibe. he yells at kids who dont use poles, and he always has this super stuck up crappy "look at me, im the best" vibe. everyone i know who has met him also says he has a super cocky mean attitude.
he reminds me of one of those high school football jocks you always see in movies, pushing people into lockers and shit.
it doesnt matter how good you are, if you have a shitty attitude, your a fag, and your skills cant change that.
so FUCK SIMON, he is a huge tool and i will never respect him until he changes his attitude.
 
do you need to express your opinion on a website to thousands of people? can you be happy for the sport that something big like this happened?
 
you guys make this all too easy...without NS, there would PROBABLY be no 4FRNT, Armada, Moment, Joystick, EC Headwear, etc. oh oh oh oh oh oh and most importantly, EMPIRE ATTIRE we ARE the freeskiing population

How about you use capital letters, or atleast learn to capitalize the first letter of each sentence. Then learn how to say "want to". Then it would be you're inability to spell douche you thirteen-year-old child who has a problem with a great skier.
