Thank You Police

You failed to read my posts in this thread.

The main basis for someone in here calling me a hypocrite was that I joking said that he should steal their skateboards.

The other example was that I want them to not be douche bags but apparently helping me about my car and being an asshole have to go together.

"Not because you're intelligent, but because you just bring up the most ridiculous extremes to try to prove your ignorant point "

"And then, when someone calls you out on being a huge hypocrit, you try to change things around by saying that nothing at all goes wrong in your town"

The town where I went to high school. Google it. A cop just got fired for sleeping in his car on shifts which could have been going on for years. NOTHING HAPPENS. You can't tell me you know anything about a town you've most likely never been to.

"So all of that experience you have had with cops then becomes completely irrelevant to your argument, because you have obviously never experienced cops in a town where actual murderers and rapists are running around"

Lol and you called me ignorant. Your assumptions are fairly interesting. That experience was in a town where nothing happens so all my experiences must have happened there. I didn't even live in the town I went to high school in, I drove an hour there everyday.

I spent my summers on the road. I've probably had police encounters in more states than you've even been to. I've had plenty of run ins with police all over the country. In small nowheresville towns, and big cities.

Stop making assumptions, it's just making you look retarded.

Did I say you had to? Nope

If you don't want to read it don't. IT was related to op's and a few others ridiculous posting.

Just saying, go fuck yourself :)

"The majority of what police do is minor stuff that keeps society going. Ever sat in traffic due to a car accident or construction? You know who's job it is to keep things moving? A cop. Or say there's a big storm and branches fall, powers out and so on. The police are out there putting in 20 hour shifts, helping them restore power and reopen roads"

Um that would be the power company actually. And sometimes the state and town crew out as well.

The police are there directing traffic.

this is the type of thing cops are actually useful for. and i actually respect it when cops do go help people and "keep society running" its just unfortunate that they spend the majority of their time waiting for anyone to make a tiny little slip up so they can meet their quota and bring in revenue.

but when it comes cops keeping us safe, for the most part i feel better off relying on myself. ive been in pleny of bad situations, and never used the cops to help. the one time i tried, like i said earlier, the cops came 30 minutes later, plenty of time for someone to get very seriously hurt, and were just trying to get people to press charges, so pretty much they just came and made the situation worse, and sparked more arguments. shit i feel more unsafe being around cops than most other people.

the majority of what they do is actually stuff like what you and I agree they are useful for. Speed traps and stuff like that really aren't the majority, except for state police forces and highway patrols. Town and city cops don't do that stuff much.

When it comes to safety, even as a supporter of the police, I think it's downright irresponsible to rely or depend entirely on anyone else. I'm a fan of trying to settle things on your own in a responsible manner (IE not settling feuds with duels or fights to the death.) However if that doesn't work, or if it's serious enough, involve the police.

Response times would improve if idiots didn't rely on the police for everything. There are people out there who will call and demand a cop shows up because there's hoodlum looking teenagers who walked by 45 minutes ago. But they have to go (at least until it's clear the person calling is nuts) and it ties things up

where ive lived, and especially where i live now, for the most part they are setting up speed traps and crap more than anything else. there are an unbelievable amount of cops, and almost every one you see is sitting on the side of the road with a radar gun.

i just feel like in general, we need about 1/5th the amount of cops as we do, maybe people would be more reliant on themselves, and we would still have cops ONLY WHEN WE NEED THEM. they are more of a burden than a help really. when most of the police work they do is to meet quotas and bring in revenue, and have to enforce bullshit laws to achieve that. they are more of a burden and a threat to society.

yes part of this is the average citizens fault as much as it is the government and police forces fault. people are so damn useless and lazy these days. they cant solve their own problems by themselves. if your neighbors dog barks too much, fucking go tell them to shut their dog up! if all else fails, shit the dog up yourself, or live with the noise.

its like a couple years ago, some neighbors complained about a bike jump we had dug in our backyard, said it made the neighborhood look bad. so instead of confronting me about it, they call the cops, who had to show up, basically to say that nothing im doing is illegal, they cant tell me to do anything. and guess what? because my neighbors had to be douche bags about it, we just made more of them and made them bigger. same neighbor complained about me shooting targets in the backyard (my parents house is outside of city limits with a lot of land, no HOA either) they could have talked to me about it, but they called the cops, same shit happened, and now i dont give a shit when or how much i shoot.

what im trying to say is both sides need to mind their own fucking business more, it will only make a stronger and better functioning society. as well as better people.

starting pay for a cop in Oakland or Richmond, CA is 90,000/year. though you are essentially in a gang at that point...and WILL get shot at a lot.

I have actually been thinking about becoming a cop. I think that i would be really good at it because of what ive done and seen in my younger days, so i would have a good perspective on things. As well, i think it would actually be super fun to be able to full on tackle someone 100% again if they tried to fuck with me.

Are you retarded?

I'm not quoting this particular post for anyone reason, it just happened to be at this point where I stopped reading the thread to make sure you weren't suffering from some sort of mental handicap.

I was amazed at how big a deal the cops make about minor possession in nh. Luckily I didn't run into any trouble really when phish came to manchester last fall. Only problems I had were with an open container. I thought that was kind of dumb when you have shakedown going on, all kinds of people hanging out in the lots. But whatever. It's technically illegal. The way they react to marijuana surprised me though. I sort of saw nh as a down to earth really mellow place and though that would be reflected through the laws and enforcement.

I saw a cop walk a dog around a car very fucking thoroughly 3 times. Then he said oh I'm gonna walk it around one more time and let you go. Magically the dog alerted almost immediately to a place that wasn't even near the drugs they ended up finding when they tore the car apart.

If they can't get in you're car they'll make up a reason to get in your car. If they don't find drugs they'll give you another ticket to validate their stopping you.

It's sketchy.
