Okay boys and girls, I know this subject is touchy. I for one support the police, they have a tough occupation. Some on this site and more importantly around the country (US because I live here) believe the police are just as bad if not worse then criminals. Well, I think your dead wrong. Yes some cops are bad at heart we all know this. But most are just cautious about the situation, when a cop pulls up to u in the parking lot saying you need to leave, Its not because there being assholes. Its because maybe 2 nights beforehand there was a reported drug deal or other crime. And if u say "ohhh I'm just buying weed or have weed on me, the cop was an asshole for making me dispose of it, he didn't give me a ticket or take me in, but hes still an asshole" Yea well your a moron and lucky to get away with it. (there was a thread about that) police are told to uphold the laws of the country, and that they do. Next time your in a bad situation where you may need to call the cops think about it, they are there to help you and if we didn't need them, they wouldn't be around. We need them, be happy we have people willing to protect us.

 
to be honest... police are there for a reason. No problem against the cops. I love drinking and smoking and I've never had a problem with the cops

sorrrryyyyyy, I just get annoyed people hate on cops. I deal with cops daily as a medic and a firefighter, so i see what they are really like. They just want to go home to theyre kids at night.
 
This goes back to the logic of if point 1 is wrong, then 2 must be correct. There can't be any room for 3 or 4.

I'm not in anyway a fan of anarchy. I am a fan of having police. However, the system as it stands is pretty fucked. Cops have almost unlimited power with little to no checks.

You also gave some of the dumbest examples to back up your terrible argument. Zomg, maybe somebody bought some weed in a parking lot, call the president, shit just got real.

As far as weed, many times they not only take your shit, but also write you tickets because they can. They try as hard as they can to get around your rights. In some cases they flat out try to scare the shit out of you, in many cases they straight up violate them.

The old school sherrif mentality is what I like to see. Pull somebody over for going over the speed limit. Sometimes they talk to you and are understanding, let you off with a warning, and that actually works sometimes.

Instead of, I can give you 73 tickets, but I'm only going to give you 65, I'm cutting you a huge break man, you should be thankful I'm going out of my way to fuck up your day instead of catching real criminals.

You should be thankful they're putting drug users in jail based off of a failed prohibition policy instead of tracking down rapists and murderers. Should be happy that the prisons are sometimes to full from those people that they can't even fit the real bad guys.

Cops can literally get away with murder, but it's no big deal.

The cops should totally be able to trample the constitutional rights of the citizens they are supposed to be SERVING. That makes sooooo much sense.

Protect and serve is nothing more than an outdated slogan these days. It's not applicable to the current situation.

that whole response is wrong, youve never dealt with police have you. Be nice to them you get it right back no matter what the situation. No checks? BULLSHIT cops get fucked all the time cause of people who say they abuse powers. Next time you see a cop speak with her or him, maybe you'll learn something.

like I said, I deal with police EVERY single day for VIPs, accidents, fires, overdoes's anything you can think of. your just a moronic 20 yr old with no life experience, I see more foul shit in a week then you see in a lifetime. Be happy you have police, rather then cry when you get a public intox ticket.
 
THE POLICIA ARE SOFA KING BAD! I'm not saying that they are all racist assholes, and, i will admit that in most cases the are "just doing their jobs" but the fact of the matter is that they are upholding unjust laws and that they relish in it. They serve the establishment that serves you drinks and cigarettes. They are slaves to corporate gasoline and protect the people who profit from organized crime by punishing those who are its victims. A democracy in which constituents are asked to vote between "leadership" candidates based on minor differences in the spending of tax dollars and does not alow them to decide the law is a fallacy!

Op I agree w u cause u make a good point but u ruin your self when u start calling ppl out on their life experience,, and tout ur own. U dunno what these ppl go through, and it's u fair of u to make a thread, just to call the people who don't agree with you irrational or lacking of life exp. people should wise up thats all... I can care less what people on NS think but if I ca change the mind of one person about cops and maybe convince them to help out, well maybe it will change something.

By the way you never really got around to my point about disliking the way cops are these days doesn't equal hating cops and wanting anarchy.

And I have plenty of first hand experience dealing with cops trying to fuck people over.

Its all perception. Cops are probably awesomely chill to you because youre aiding their job, and providing a service to them as an EMT.

On the other side of that, they are less likely to be nice to the guy they just pulled over going 5 over in a neighborhood.

You're seeing police in a light that 95% of people don't see, because they can't. You see them as people. The rest of us see them as upholders of a failed system.
 
Gillski, you can defend cops all you want. However, attacking any other member based on intelligence is downright hilarious. Your grammatical mistakes lead me to believe that all of your 'life experience' has involved the inhalation of too many noxious fumes. Wear your mask a little tighter next time you put a fire out.
 
Yeah I'd love to be a cop, and get paid 30k a year to go and pull some car over for being sketchy and face being murdered every night in gun toting americaland.... I'm with the op, ask them how hard/scary their job actually is. I wouldn't do it...... Respect.
 
Ok so the original post-but the point is-how many of you wield become cops for a career? It's got to be pretty shitty, massively underpaid work, where everyone hates you for what? Doing your job? All the cops I ever speak to seem pretty humble, and I kinda feel embarrassed knowing I get paid nearly 5 times what they do. Most are pretty normal guys. Maybe when you grow up and most cops you come across are younger than you , you'll understand.
 
ive never needed the cops, they have never helped me directly, the one time i tried to be a good citizen and call the cops on a bad situation they took almost 30 minutes, acted like a couple of complete douche bags, and made the situation worse. but i have had plenty of experience with cops, yes i have encountered the occasional good cop, some were actually really great people, who were able to use common sense in handling the situation rather than being the typical dumb shit cop looking at the law like its completely black and white.

but for the most part its bad experiences, abusing their power, trying to scare me, trying to get away with more than they are supposed to, and in almost every case, power tripping like crazy.

most cops just suck ass, the law they enforce, and how they enforce it is completely retarded. when you fuck with peoples freedom as much as they do, it should be a life threatening job.
 
Probably not. And what job do you have that pulls in over 200k a year?

I have plenty of first hand experience to support my opinions on the subject. The way it's looking, things are only going to get worse not better. When I'm older and most cops are younger than me I'll probably have the same opinion on the issue unless there are some dramatic changes made.

I'm not going around saying fuck the police. I'm also not saying that I think we should get rid of the police. I just feel that there are some major problems that need to be addressed asap. I've come across far more cops that have been dicks than good polite ones with the interests of the people at hand.

I'll add one of my favorite examples to this thread. Coolstorybro don't read if you don't want to.

So in highschool junior year i have my corsica parked in the student lot. Come out after school to find a massive dent in the side of my car, around the rear door. Now my car is perfectly backed in dead fucking center between the lines so it wasn't like I parked like an idiot. Also to make things more fun, there were no cars around mine. I remembered that this tool bag with a large woody station wagon was parked next to me when I came back from lunch. Paint smear was the same color. So I talk to the school and end up calling the cops to make a police report for insurance, especially since the dude who did it fucking left.

So cool cop roles into the school lot smoking a cigar in his cop car. No smoking on school property? I guess it doesn't matter when you're a cop who is supposed to be setting a good example. He immediately started with " that doesn't look that bad at all". As if it's no big deal that a big dent is in my car that was going to cost at least a couple hundred bucks to fix, and the dude that did it left the scene. Of course I was a dick for making him come out of his way form doing nothing to actually do his job. I had to convince him to even make a report. Douche never even got out of his car to look at it. Just stayed parked about 20 feet away sitting in his car smoking his cigar.

That's just example 1 of my many encounters with sweet cops. For the record, I don't hate cops. I'm not saying we should get rid of cops or that all cops are dicks. I figured I'd point this out before somebody says, oh you had one bad experience blah blah blah all the other cops are super duper awesome people.

I could go on with a list of many other encounters with douche bag cops. Also notable. I don't speed, I've never had a ticket, I've only had one accident while driving and that was driving to work in the worst freezing rain storm we've had in years in a mini van down steep back roads and it wasn't even that bad. So before anybody goes, oh you're probably just a dick and deserve it, no.

There are in fact a shit ton of cops that don't in any way fit with "protect and serve".

That sucks. My friend drives a Mini Cooper, and some dumbass girl backed into it with her truck in the school parking lot. The cop came over and started talking to my friend thinking he was the one who drove the truck, and when he found my firned had the Mini he just laughed. Asshole. The cop was not helpful at all, but Some cops are cool:
