Thank you NS

Forgive the cliché as fuck post but I couldn't hep it...

I stomped my first backflip today on the first try, and I couldn't have done it without NS and all the threads and advice on backflips. Jake Muller's vid and all the threads about it helped me immensely. I started getting on NS about a year ago, last season was my first to really get into the park scene, and I've spent a lot of time on here since I started using it.

Anyway, I just wanted to say This community is dope, and honestly just so unique. It's so active and honestly such a big part of the free skiing community at large.

Keep peeing in her butt and sending it for the boys. Stay weird, Homies!

Still haven't done my first backflip. Trying to feed off your hype and just send it once my mountain gets enough snow to build a jump (Pennsylvania=Not fun right now)

YOU GOT IT, man! That's what this guy said to me when I was building up my courage before I dropped in today. He was with his crew and they all went through the park, and his cameraman had gone down to set up, and I told him to go first cause I was trying to grow a pair, and he just said that and a few other things and boosted my confidence like crazy. As cheesy as it sounds, when I stomped it I rode down to the rail yard where he and one of his guys were and thanked him for the pep talk, and let him know I nailed it....anyway...I know you got it homie! Just commit, and you'll be fine. Sucks you gotta wait on snow, heard philly is going to have a record high temp for Xmas :/.

Just send it man they're soo much easier than they look.

Question on the backflip, how long did u practice on a trampoline before doing off a jump on skis?

if you can do it consistently on the tramp you can do it on snow.

Yea, curious on how you progressed into stomping it. Tramp, airbag, snow? or did ya just go for it?

I learned them on tramps, bridges and other shit but if you can get it on the tramp you can do it. Personally it's easier than a 3 for me the only hard thing about hem is getting over the fear of going upside down.

Well, I've been throwing big laid out backflips on tramps since I was like 10/11, it's second nature for me on a tramp. Additionally I used to be on the dive team back in middle school and have been throwing gainers and all sorts of flips off diving boards (and more recently cliffs) since then. Never been on a jump to airbag or foam. it was something I knew my body was more than comfortable doing. It's almost second nature for me, but I just had a fear of throwing it off a ski jump. So for me it was 100% just growing a pair and hucking it as I was confident that my body would know what to do! That being said, I feel like I was way more than prepared as far as training prior. I never really trained specifically for skiing backflips, as I only started park last season (been a vacation all mountain skier for 13 years, started school in CO last year as I'm originally from Tennessee). Like others have stated, it's definitely like 80-90% mental and 10-20% technique - tech wise just bend your knees, lean forward on the approach, get good speed (I didn't speed check, though it was snowing so speed was a bit tougher to get), look back to spot your landing and commit.

Love hearing about crews going out there and supporting kids rather than making fun of kids trying to learn.

Good stuff, good thread, made me happy
