it seems that without snowboarding skiers wouldn't know how to do anyting for it's self. skis, music, the concept of style. there are so few who realize what i'm talking about

 
uh, if it wasn't for skiing snowboarders wouldn't exist, resorts wouldn't exist, lifts wouldn't exists, etc., etc., etc.

 
and if we really want to play the game maybe we should date things back to the big bang theory for the start of it all.

skiing started it all...surfing was born by hawaiians that never saw snow. snowboarding was the evolution of surfing on snow. snowboarding evolved into style. "newschool" skiing was the bastard child of snowboarding because we were too stupid to realize what we could do at the time.

snowboarding came AFTER skiing did here guys...not the other way around...without skiers...snowboarding wouldnt even exist...but then again neither would skiers and this converstaion would never take place..

Surfing? Skiing was invented a looooonnnnnnnnnnngggggggggg time ago... putting boards on your feet and sliding down snow has been going on for thousands of years... surfing may be old but what i think you are trying to say is surfing became skateboarding... skateboarding mixed with skiing to create snowboarding... the style of surfing and skating is resembled in how they balance and do grabs in snowboarding... then skiing finally started to take snowboarders grabs and a bit of their steeze... thats what todays skiers have from surfing... but our beginnings didn't really relate to them at all

Does it annoy anybody that the first trick landed in Not Another Ski Movie WAS SEVEN AND A HALF FUCKING MINUTES INTO THE MOVIE???????????????? i paid for a ski movie... not a tour of a lightbulb factory
 
Um, I'm sure many of those hawaiians saw snow on the mountain tops of Mauna Kea or Mauna Loa which are more than 13,000 feet tall. Mauna kea even means white mountain or siomething. So the ancient hawaiian surfers that lived on or near the big island would have seen snow.

I don't deny there are bad things in the US right now, hell, 51% of the country to be exact. But god damnit, our country being fat is NOT a problem. I do't give a shit how fat people are. hell, fat kids are harder to kidnap, that means our country is safer.

what i was trying to say is that because of surfing we got skateboarding. from that we got snowboarding. from snowboarding we got parks. from parks we got newschool skiing. we may have had it with out snowboarders but i think it would have taken alot longer.

on a more serious note, have you guys ever heard of hotdoggers? badasses in the 70's that were all over the tricky shit, without snowboarding, the progression would have came naturally, we dont need them.

It's obvious that there's a lot of give and take between the 2 sports. And we do owe a ton to snowboarding in terms of where our aspect of the sport is progressing today (switch to switch backcountry booters and such). I simply don't understand why you guys have to be such pillow biters about it. Snowboarding and skiing both rock.

thats exactaly it......surfing>skateboarding>snowboarding>giveing skiiers steez (basicaly, may not be EXACT but skiing sure didnt have as much steez befor snowboarding) and becides without snowboarding who woulde we show up at the mountain hehehe also i think it pushes skiiers a bit to just say they can do stuff smoother, faster, ect than boarders

but you can't just say that snowboarding lead directly to freestyle skiing. several factors lead to the creation. and where did ski boards come from?

lets think about this, things naturally progress and expand i.e. snowboarding is a result of the existence of SKIING
 
besides why is there a riff between to two, its to the point where each feeds of the other and they progress together, i ski and board and i think im better for it
 
It would have def come around on its own...ppl were miving in that direction and twin tips were already an idea!!

But undoubtably snowboarding exploding and then hitting the olympics def sped up the process 10 fold so this topic is dead!!

And who ever brought surfing into this WOW your a moron!! Skiing has been goin on without the help of surfing but thanks n e way!!
