Thall or El Rey??

I am 6 foot 2 215 lbs and i am looking for a good park ski. I am pretty expert outside the park and im just starting to get into the park(havent really done anything yet). Currently i ride the k2 extreme in a 169cm length which seems pretty short, but i can get by with it for now because im doing a lot of groomers. The reason i am deciding on these two skis is because they seem like they have had a good reputation for park skis. Also, i can get them fairly cheap. I can get the El Rey for only 319, and i can get the thall for 440. I also know that the thall is a pretty buttery ski, but i think i should be able to handle that outside the park as well. I can get the thall in a 176 length, and the El rey in a 178cm length. Any suggestions or helpfull posts +++++k.

r u gonna keep ur other skis and use these just for park? if these r just for park and it is between just these two then get the thall. other skis u could look at r the ar7 and chronic cryto (both r kinda stiff) so its nice to have something that rips outside the park too if ur not a totally into park yet. also look at on3p filthy rich but that is more expensive then any other one so yea jus saying

So, ive already got the extreme which is good outside the park so you think the thall 176 is good for just park?

You are going to want something at least 180 cm, due to your height and weight. 178 and 176 are just too small. Same with those 169s you've been on. I don't know how you do it

I havent ridden on a longer ski before so i wouldnt know, and there also center mounted. Are you sure 176 thalls arent good. (i dont look fat btw)

Centre would actually feel shorter.

Trust me, I'm 6'3", 170 lbs and I'm on 179 centre mounted Line Anthems, which are also beat to shit and dead.

They are incredibly unstable for my size.

You want something at least 181. If not more.

That goes for me too, which I will have next year.

I'd look into the 185 El Ray. Centre mount those babies and you're in flavour country.

Look for a different ski then. Or different site.

A 176 is too short for a guy your size, you're holding yourself back. You want at least a 181

Stupid mobile. Don't get a 176, please, don't do it. There are plenty if skis that are 180+. You're a bigger guy, you can easily handle a 180+

I haven't skied them. I'm just trying to make sure you dont spend money on a ski that is wayyyy too small for you. But from what I've heard, it's a great ski. Try looking for a review in the review section of NS. If you go for the 185, centered, I don't think you'd have any problem swinging those skis around.

please stop posting in GT, half of your posts are worthless.

op is used to riding a short ski so a 176 will feel long to him. im 5'11'' and i ride a 165 park ski and 185 pow ski. its just what the skier is used to.

the el rey is a great ski for the park, but it is a super noodle after breaking it in, i have some 07/08 el reys that i still ride (in 157 get at me!) and they are fun to screw around on but butter out everytime i load the tips.

plus the el rey is a price point ski, if i was buying a new ski it would be the thall over the el rey all day.

Ok well i can get the ar7 in a 176 or 181. Thats what i have it narrowed down to. Thats why i ask on here because i seriously dont know

I'll keep posting what I want. I just don't get how people can feel comfortable skiing on something that short. If op wants a 176, he can go for it. I think he'll be much better off on a ski suited to his size

No, i respect your opinion. I have it narrowed down though so i guess 181 ar7. I just thought the ar7 was pretty stiff so thats why i thought 176 would be alright since im already riding a 169.

I don't think you'd find it stiff, you need to consider your weight and body strength as welll, it will help you stay on top of your skis

i have ar7's and i do not find them stiff at all.

especially after you break them in. perfect park ski imo.

Yea, I had the AR6s in a 181, I it's not the exact same ski, but I found they had the perfect flex for park

I guess you've already made your decision, but definitely try to heed the advice of Rudager. I'm 5' 7" and 155 lbs. skiing on 165 ARVs and I completely regret it. Sure for the first week its all dandy, but after you're used to them you start wishing you had gone longer. Progressive mounts at center or close to center make skis feel even shorter as you are shortening your nose and don't want to feel like you're going to go over the handlebars every time you land. For instance once I get the cash I'm going to get AR7's in a 176 length because after skiing on short sticks I understand why longer would be better.

^ yes if your going to get the AR7 get the 181. The extremes your on are stiffer then the AR7 so your going to a softer ski. Im 5'11 170lbs and have my park skis in a 181. I could nopt ride any shorter as they become very unstable at speed.

I would really go for the El Ray in 185 with your stats. I think that would be the best park/all round ski for you.

alright well i hear a lot of good things about the ar7 and a lot of people have said to get that. I deffintely dont think i can go wrong with a 181 ar7.
