Tgr and Kai Jones

he really isnt physically strong enough yet to ski some of the lines hes doing and it bothers me. the way he lands and gets bucked around is kinda scary from a 3rd person.

The petit comparison is valid. The only thing I would love to see is him skiing with more people his age and them making a little movie themselves, not to do with tgr. Now that would be all time imo

I like seeing him shred with the older dudes, it’s cool to see the support he has from those around him but yeah it would be super dope to see a group of 9-14 yr olds ripping all over and it would be super inspirational for the younger crowd and they need more young role models to look to inspire more of a “you can do this now” instead of you can be this in 6 more years when your an adult.

Would really like to see some young female rippers with kais level or representation. Def a void there in need of filling.

lol ok dude

I believe if you think about it you have to partially agree with the post you responded to.

Anyone growing up with kais “resources”, terrain accessibility, teachers and yes finance, would def be better than what they would be without, tho I do agree, that no matter how much coaching, access etc… not everyone can be Kai jones or reach that level, There’s genetics, mental attitude, and natural/mental/physical drive to want to be an athlete paired with the ability to do so and those resources. Yes any of us can be better, no, not all of us no matter how much help, not even in a billion years…. Could be as good as kai.

Also, really not stoked to hear people talk about durtschi so negatively bc I really liked him a lot, looked up to him you can say, thought he was a good rep of skiing as a whole and had a fun vibe, now it seems he’s more of a hole ? , if I were in his shoes, as a role model, I’d feel more inclined to wait while you check my pass so others can see hey even the “known” comply so we all should too, just disappointed to hear he acts in a way different to what I’d imagined.

Ye, gives me the same vibes that the olympic gymnastics teams give me. Kids are wrecking their bodies and stunting their growth kinda for the entertainment of adults. Atleast it's his choice and he fucking loves it tho

True and I totally agree. I'm just saying I got the exact opposite vibe and it's not cool to talk about them negatively due to one incident.

Aint just one incedent dawg, I dealt with these guys for a whole ass season.

Crowd in boston got all fired up for Kai’s big cliff hit. Say all you want about TGR but the kid is nasty good and has a great focused attitude

That’s sick, it was massive. I can’t tell how big. But what video was that from cuz tim wasn’t in yearbook 2021 and k don’t remember seeing that cliff before yearbook 2021

Yeah that’s the biggest Kai has gone. Pretty excited to watch him and other young riders check off legendary lines this winter

I took that video from the premier of stoke the fire in boston a couple weeks ago

That was gas. Is that really all they showed from the GoPro angle though?? That was a crazy good shot to cut away from

Kai is the new Pettit, can't wait to see what he does in the next 5-10 years, his clips this year were fucking insane for being a child still.

Highly disagree.

Kai vs Walker Shredz slvsh game. Who would win

Walker shredz is so much better. His tricks and his style are unmatched, plus this dude is like 12 years old. Kai isn't even in the same league.

Nobody his age is anywhere near his level of skiing, he's literally in the perfect situation for himself to grow into a top tier professional big mountain skier.

Walker Shredz

It took me a while to understand this but big mountain freeride is just on another level of difficulty that simply isn't portrayed well on camera. I used to think FWT skiers were not as good as park skiers because it looks like they are just skiing down a kinda steep trail and doing mostly straight airs and 3s. The steepness of those lines is just not translated through a gopro and to do any trick on something steeper than 40° requires skills just not seen in the park.

^this all day

Pretty sure Walker is doing a BC film this winter which will be insane to see what the little man can do in the pow

Can’t believe im about to say this, but… Kai Jones’ part in this years TGR film was actually pretty dope. Dude earned some respect from me.

He's a decent kid honestly. He just wants to ski hard regardless of his familial backgrounds or whatever. It's funny seeing both adults and punk rich kids from ski towns flame him for being better. Get good or eat wood lol.

What an entertaining NS savagery thread. I’d agree with the situation growing up in changing your outcome a lot. idk might get hate for this but skiing your entire life and only doing that is pretty selfish. Get some actually life skills NS/pros/whoever. Misguidance into the thought that skiing is the only purpose and all your value comes from hyping people up on the internet is kinda some 2022 BS. I ain’t saying all NS/pros/etc deserve this rant, but the stuck up acting one’s not sure who they are because I’m not stalking or talking to everyone do.

Ya Walker is insane. But I don’t think he could take that to the backcountry with as much style and confidence. And I don’t think Kai can do that in the park. So they’re different and I don’t think it would be fair to compare. Unless you did a backcountry slush and a park one

I heard from some tgr interns that todd jones is an alcoholic and kai is pretty forced into every demanding line.

When I saw Kai his dad was packing chews and seemed out of it

Does anybody else here feel like Jeramy Jones is a way better guy than Todd. Jeramy is in shape, and seems way more rad and doesn't force his kids to do anything

Jeramy is way more at piece and just lives a better life.

My buddy runs a bar here in Juneau. TGR comes here almost every winter to film and they asked my buddy to open the bar even thuough it had been closed for the season. My buddy opened up for them and their crew. Todd not only tipped him very nicely, but he also told him to send him an email and he would hook us up with whatever we needed for the season.

fast forward to this fall. My buddy emailed him and wrote a list of things we all wanted, and two weeks later a giant box of merch and gear showed up on our doorstep. Hoodies, beanies, hats, goggles, button ups, so much stuff.

Say what you want about the brand and what they’re doing over there, but those are good people. All of them.

1. Todd is not so much a multimillionaire. Kids on this site come from much more money. But the family has resources.

2. Kai has real talent.

3. TGR stands for Todd’s gettin rounder

i’m so tired of TGR exploiting young atheletes. parents signing these kids up for a life they never even asked for. executive producers harboring pedophelia behind the scenes. the iCarly reboot fucking sucks… i pray for kai, hopefully they don’t make him sing like mitchel russo.

Of course they’re nice to the bar owner Todd’s an alcoholic.

I heard a story about filming one of the mtb movies. Todd got so drunk during the day he fired half the staff then got pissed when they didn’t show up the next day.

listen man I’ve shared beers in the parking lot of my local hill with him and his crew on closing day the last few years here. Dudes been nothing but nice man. They’ve flown to my lodge to talk Heli skiing plans and again… nothing but respectful and nice.

if you haven’t personally met the guy or sat down and chatted while drinking a beer I have a hard time taking what you say seriously.

maybe you’re young and haven’t figured it out yet, but he said she said stuff doesn’t really matter. Hold your judgement and opinions on someone until you actually meet them or hang out with them.

do I think some of the things tgr and his company do are corny? Yeah I do. But he’s a good dude. Trying to slander a person or company that’s done more good than bad for the ski industry is pretty wack as well.

But Walker can take all his stee park tricks to the backcountry which I am sure he will do

Can’t say the same for Kai

That’s all well said and good but I lost all respect for the company when they tried to have our first Montana Bandits premiere shut down cause it happened the same night as their premiere in Bozeman. We affected their ticket sales and they came after us like children. Fuck tgr
