has anyone been there? I heard they have good powder and good hikeable backcountry above the resort. anyone have any words of advice on this place?

i havent been there, but ive heard its a fun place, it was described as a ski area rather than a ski resort to me, in other words, they are about skiing and having a good time, not money and corporate bullshit. i did hear it has some good bc, i guess the lifts only go part way up. you should post pix if you go.

Top of Lift Elevation: 7200 ft.
Summit Elevation: 8488 ft.

If youre willing to hike a little there is quite a bit more vertical to be had plus there lift tickets are mad cheap.

adult $27
student $21

with a season pass to another mt resort you get the half day rate which is $19 for adult and $15 for student

do they have good terrain?

Last Friday we stopped up there. It is a very small, rustic area. They have a 150 acre lease with one double chair, a few surface lifts, maintenance shack, rental shop, small lodge, and a snowcat all for sale for $250,000. Unfortunately the day we drove up Dave Letterman had rented the mountain for the day for himself and family. We spent some time chatting with a local ski patroller. He told us that all the area above the chairlift (1000 or so vertical feet) was part of the lease and ski patrol did control work up there. It looked like real fun skiing. The ski area also owns permits to expand a chairlift to the summit, this would make for a fun ski area. As we were driving back down the road we stopped to take a picture of a beaver pond when Letterman drove by and smiled and waved at us. We were hoping he would offer us to come ski. Oh well.

Mountains on the way up:
