I'm disappointed in you guys for not making a thread already. I searchbared and could not find anything.

Obviously Tess Ledeux should have won Women Big Air Finals. Change my mind!

She had the forward dub 1620 and the switch 1440 dub japan. Both of Eileen Gus jumps were forward, leftside rotations. As far as i understood the commentary correctly they should showcase two different rotations (for example a rightside and a leftside spin, or one forward and one switch)

We were quick with the thread how Matej got robbed at XGames but not in this case? Come on guys!

Its pretty obvious Eileen got the Gold medal because the Games are in China and she competes for China. Tess Ledeux skied better and her 1620 was way cleaner too.
 
I disagree, remember that this event didn’t require athletes to spin both ways, nor should any big air event in my opinion. Seeing as big air is more meant to be visually a one hit wonder leave it all out on the table kind of event. Leave the spinning right and left to slopestyle as that event is geared towards overall technicality and ability. I also thought Eileens dub 16 was way cleaner in the air. Tess debatably had the better landing but not by much. Also a straight dub 14 is way more technical that a single switch 14 upright. Besides she biffed the landing hard on her last hit. Eileen won rightfully so, love it or hate it. She came back and performed while doing a trick she hadn’t ever landed before. Also to your last point about it being rigged, 6 individual countries send one judge and the highest/ lowest score get cut out as outliers so there’s no way in hell it was rigged.
 
hmm maybe my commentary was wrong then. He said they should showcase two different kind of rotations. Tess Ledeuxs last landing was biffed but it is also irrelevant as her best two scores came from the first two runs. I see the point of Eileen trying a trick she has never done before and stomping it but in my eyes it wasnt cleaner than Ledeuxs 1620.
 
also word on the streets is the chinese government sends judges to gulags if they dont prefer chinese athletes
 
The hypocrisy of people hating on her doing the same variation of trick but getting a win are the same people who go to cheer when AHall goes from 1980 to 2160. Besides love it or hate it a 14 and 16 are not the same trick and she played her cards to her ability under the circumstances/ rules she was dealt. Seeing as their 16’s scored relatively the same regardless of who did it better, the difference was between a sw upright 14 and a dub 14, and regardless of anything she “should have done” she used the rules to her advantage and did a more technical trick which put her ahead overall. Either way the competition definitely wasn’t rigged and Tess is a badass regardless of anything.

also thanks for joining in on the discussion even though you share a different opinion! whereelse should i go with this topic if not NS? It feels nice to still have this place after all those years to discuss our opinions over skiing.
 
Yea ik I’m just fuckin with you a lil but also, Eileen is getting slandered a ton this season, in my opinion so just tryna offer a different perspective. Overall I thought Tess had it in the bag and wouldn’t of been mad if it ended that way but Eileen came back which was crazy to see. NS is honestly still great, need to get back on here more because the banter is unbeatable

I'm actually shocked how many people bitch about judging but don't even know what tricks were done lol. Eileen fully deserved to win.
 
[tag=38820]@eheath[/tag] I didn’t even realize she did the dub 14 the other way until now, that right there cements her way above the rest of the field.
 
And leftside is unnatural for her, it’s amazing to put down a leftside16 in the third run

The direction of natural spin is irrelevant IMO which is why if you do spin both ways in this kind of event you will get rewarded, but you dont have to.
 
I mean she could only do a 14 on her natural side, but managed a 16 on her unnatural side under that pressure, which amazed me.

I was so bummed when Mathilde didn't land her 1620 attempt. How sick would it have been if all three of those women landed 16s!?

She did a right side 14 and a left side 16 and clearly won, how can you be so butthurt about something but not know the most basic details of it
 
I stand corrected. Rewatched her first hit and realized it was a rightside dub.

Insane to think the leftside dub was to her „unnatural“ way.

so in conclusion Eileen deserved to win!
