she died this morning and this morning on the citytv at like 6:30 they said she was still responsive and doing quite well for the amount of time her tube has been

because she's completely irresponsive, they even used brain wave monitors, she doesnt have any control really, she cant do anything

 
they should have just euthanized her two weeks ago instead of starving her. even if she couldn't feel it, it took way to long for her to pass. I hate how everyone used her for their own agenda. Decsions like this happen everyday in hospital around the world. the whole ordeal just pisses me off.

I believe also she should had been euthanisised.Living 15 years as a vegetable is a sad thing.I heard the she wished to die rather live a vegetable life.

i know i would rather just die than be a vegetable. what an awful way to spend your life for 15 years. but hate me all you want but i think it's good they let her go. and i'm tired of seeing it on the news. i think there are more important things out there like poor little 9 year old girls getting raped and murdered. besides..all the crazy radicals out there are saying they want to kill the husband because they're taking her off the feeding tube. okay, lets kill a perfectly healthy perfect just so a vegetable can live. god our world is fucked up

Her parents offered to take care of her, but her husband wanted her to die, even though he moved on with his life and had nothing to do with looking after her.

yea i agree with the above if i was put it the same situation i wouldnt want to live anymore, mainly cuz it would suck and theres no point, but also cuz its draining resources, like if they let her die it woulda freed up a doctor, some nurses and equipment thatcould be used for someone who has a chance to live still

i know that if i was terry schivo i wouldnt want to have to live like a vegtable and suffer for a long time, so after seeing this on tv i told my parents and family that if anything like this ever happens to me that i want to have no medical care or lethal injection so that i can pass away cause i wouldnt want to be stuck in a bed not having any idea whats goin on the rest of my life

the sad thing in addition to her loss is that there is probably a line of production companies, and authors begging for the rights to write a book on the story, or produce some kind of tv movie, trying to turn one families tragedy into their own profit. imo the situation has been made way to public. the entire ordeal has been treated with the smallest amount of respect for the family and everyone else involved. in addition to that, the government had no right to get involved in what seems to be strictly a family decision. both sides, the husband and the parents were both trying to do what they felt was best for her, and her family. its ridiculous that some people want to view one side as some kind of evil. they press should just leave them alone, and let the family mourn their loss.

It is sad, and yeah it is wrong to starve her to death, but she said to her husband that she did not want to live as a vege man. The doctors said that she was the person with the least brain activity alive. She did not even have enought brain activity for her to be consicious. Just like someone is brain dead, the body is still working, but there is nobody home. Look, it was her husband's choice to make. Not her mother, not her father, not the government, the leagal gardian who is the husband. May she rest in peace.

You know the irony of the situation is that she had an eating disorder where she was starving herself which caused the stroke. And now they starved her again so she would pass away.

The thing to remember is, she wasn't in a coma. She was brain-damaged, and she was functioning at the highest level her brain could ever manage. There was no way she could recover.

rodedaco, it does NOT set the precedent that we kill off anyone who can't take care of themselves. Situations like these should be handled on a case-to-case basis. I agree that she should have been euthanized rather than starved, but the political right would have shit an even bigger brick than it did already if they had actually stuck a needle in her or something. They had to go about it by doing nothing, rather than doing something.

In my opinion, if she was totally braindead, it's for the better, and it was what she wanted anyway (if you trust her husband's word). If Terri was still in there, conscious but unable to respond, she was probably ready to go anyway- does anyone really want to lay in a hospital bed for 15 years?

What pisses me off the most are those goddamn religious protestors outside making complete asses of themselves. Where were they when our government decided to write off the deaths of thousands of Iraqi civilians as 'collateral damage,' or refuse to intervene in Darfur? Is Terri Schiavo's life worth more than that of an Iraqi or a Sudanese? How about the thousands of Americans who are starving RIGHT NOW, because their "feeding tube" is now paying for the occupation of Iraq?
