i live in upstate ny and there is a resort opening in my crap whole of a city for the 04/05 or 05/06 season and it is only goin to be a terrain park, i believe he said hes making one lift and hell have jumps and rails and a pipe set up, theyve already cleared the trees so im pretty stoked, he did say only snowboarders were aloud in but he said that hell make an exception for skiers with twin tips

DId you see that he was going to only let in snowboarders? That isn't progression, its segregation. I've seen some pretty sick tricks done by carvers. Just because they can't ride switch doesn't mean they suck. Just my opinion

 
yes, this will begin a new breed of uber park rats. but then if you can't get the big mountain in the east, this would be the next best thing.

i think by the time that the hill opens, skiers will have a lot more recognition and become almost as well known as snoborders are as far as tricks go, cause right now, if ur not into the 'scene' the only people who do tricks on snow are snowboarders

I still fail to understand why people have to use the term 'park rat' and hate on kids who love the park. I am going to be one this season because I don't have a real hill and skiing for a minute and getting on the slow lift again sucks. I enjoy the park, much more so than the rest of my crappy mtn. People just need to worry about themselves.

for the buffalo people on this site its 2 hrs away, for the rochester kids, its an hr, from dansville is 25 min, from bath its 20, from swain its 25, its in hornell, ny. near twin hickory golf course and its 25 min from the penn border

i agree with jumpman just because u dont have twintips dosnt mean you cant do tricks. besides if its only supposed to be snowboarders the whole mountain will be snowboard mindied which really sucks.

SKIING IS LIFE...the rest is just details.

its was only time untill a park only hill would be open...but yeh the park is cool but it gets boring after a while...if thats all there is then it might not be as cool in the long run.

wow, that has to be the most retarded idea ever. Few Reasons I can think of right off the bat:

1. East coast jumps= shitload of snowmakeing. To make an all park mountain, you need some serious funding, and a fucking HUGE water source.

2. No money in an all park mountain. Park riders make up such a small percent of who is actually out there. Your basicly limiting this place to 12-25 year olds, who are advanced in skiing or riding. Now if you look at statistics, you would relize that most people who have a shit load of money come from jersey, and suck at skiing. Its usally big familys too, which are going to stay clear of a park mountain.

So now that we know that this place will bring in NO money, and SPEND TONS OF MONEY on snowmakeing. now do you think that any bank would back this at all?

i live about 15 minutes from the old 'Snowboard Ranch in Ontartio'. been shut down for quite a few years. they got sued to shit after a tub from there tub rides came off on the way up and the person in it hit a tree. theres a guy trying to get something going there now but it will never be again. and it wasnt just a park, only a couple runs of park.

two words: liability insurance

it's a bitch for a normal resort of a small-medium size ($400,000+ usually). That's just for a ski resort with a small park. Insurance rates go up every year.....

For an full mtn park resort, there's probably no insurance company willing to take the risk of a huge park, and even if they were to, the rates could be in the million dollar range. so i don't think it's happening.

u are gay. if you want an all park resort, than u are bullshit. learn how to arc a carve, or rip down an ungroomed tree run. get your worthless ass out of the park. open your eyes and try to do something that everyone doesnt say is cool. all you yuppie little kids see ppl on here spooging about newschool and jibbing, and ripping on racers and bumpers. if all u do is ski park, u are worthless

 
First off, it pisses me off that everyone is saying 'All snowboard, that is so gay. How stupid.' but then no one seems to have a problem with Alta or Taos (all ski). That's just irrational, to think that its ok to say no snowboarders but wrong to say no skiers.

And second, why is everyone saying 'that'll be sick.' Maybe this is just me being cynical, but how the hell do you know? If my mountain turned into all park, it would suck ass, because they don't know what they are doing. How do you know that this guy know what he is doing? The same thing pissed me off about the Plehouse movie. It turns out that is is pretty good, but back in April and May, everyone was saying 'That is going to be so sick.' Why?!?!? How the hell can you know that?!?!? I could make a movie with the same super skilled skiers and it would suck because I wouldn't know what I was doing. What made people think that those guys knew how to make a good movie? It turned out well in the end, but it just pisses me off that people assume so much.
