Tell me something about this camera

It's just a regular Canon EOS Rebel T2i with 18-55m Kit lens.

That said:

Canon: Brand

EOS: Model line (SLR)

Rebel T2i: Model (Kiss X4 in Japan and 550D in Euroland.)

This is all the same for every REBEL T2i and can be disregarded.

18 MP: 18 megapixel sensor.

CMOS: Sensortype (Note every EOS is CMOS apart from the ancient 1D)

APS-C: The size of the sensor. Has a 1,6X crop factor equivalent to 35mm.

DIGIC 4 Image Processor: It's just the type of signal processing and control unit of the camera.

Full-HD Movie Mode: No need to explain this.

Digital SLR Camera: Nor this

3.0-inch LCD: Size of back LCD.

As for the lens:

EF-S: EF-S lens mount which is a derivative of the EF lens mount.

18-55mm: Focal Range, comes down to a 35 mm equivalent of 28.8–88mm due to the 1,6 crop factor.

f/3.5-5.6: Maximum aperture at the nearest and farthest focal length.

IS: Image stabilization.

Lens: No need to explain this.

I heard something about how it's cleaver to buy a T2i without a lens, and buying a cheaper- yet better one seperately. Have i been misinformed, or are there any cheaper and better lenses out there?

Go and search around on a photography/videography website and you will learn a lot more then asking individual questions on NS.

As far as buying the kit lens with the body.

"it's cleaver to buy a T2i without a lens, and buying a cheaper- yet better one separately"

not true

It's better to buy just the body and save the money you would of spent on the kit lens on a better lens. That being said you will not find a cheaper lens then the kit lens, besides maybe the 50mm 1.8.

So

Cheaper: NO

Better: YES

It's always handy to have that 18-55m kit lens.

Just because it's so bloody cheap.

It might feel more poorly build then a McDonalds toy from even cheaper plastics but the optics are excellent for the price, and you won't need a macro lens for a while because it does that quite well.

Also it's lighter then earlier mentioned McDonalds toy.

It's cheap and cheerful.

Cheap means something is a good price for that product. Low cost means it is low value.

You're right and i'm wrong, i'm not gonna sit here and argue word definitions with you. It's not relevant. OP knew what I meant and so did you.

I guess ill just buy the whole pack or so (similar if not the same as the one in the OP), and then later on invest in a better lens if needed.

Or am i way off?

And get the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II, it's only around 100 dollars and the optics are pure sex.

It's filmsy and plasticky as fuck but the optics are insanely good.

I broke mine I would buy a 50mm pentax super tak f/1.4 with an adapter ring and get a lens that is built like a brick!

You have them completely reversed.

Something is "cheaply built" if it breaks easily and is of poor quality.

Low Cost means just that.... the cost was low. Low cost does not refer to value in any way. It only references the cost.
