Tell me how to ski PowMow

Only place in Utah I haven't skied but going in a week. Everyone who frequents a mountain has their own jive and routine on where they go, so does anyone have recommendations on the better ways to navigate Powder Mountain?

Thanks

Park at timberline lot, do some timberline runs, go to paradise, eat pizza at sundown lodge (lucky slice pizza), go back to paradise. Best parts of paradise are where you stay atop the ridge and traverse across the backside of the big rocks you pass on the chair.

Cat rides are $25 but worth it if it has snowed in the last 2-3 days (which I believe it is when you're gonna be here) but like others said, paradise has the best terrain on the mountain, timberline is a good lift in the AM and hidden lake express has a ton of terrain thats pretty low angle but still fun.

ive been boycotting the cottonwoods this season as to be part of the solution vrs the problem

and skiing pow mow i value fresh tracks and dont mind skinning skating booting whateverz for em

most of the resort needs 5 to 10% more pitch and its been cloud mow a good bit this season

because they limit day tickets the lift lines havent been soulcrushing and under 15 min

patrols been doing their best to open terrain as it snows

paradise needs 80" of base to really go off

and lighting ridge hasnt been open to james peak yet and thats the best sustained vert the place has

I usually park at the top hidden lake this season

ski powder country left from there aka woodys world skiers left of the road up early and before the shuttle bus gong show develops

same with lightning ridge from sundown side back towards the road

or down to village if its not open boot the road and send it from the rich folks back yards

hippie hills isnt steep but its usually not tracked

there some stuff of marys that skis alright

ive been exploring the sub ridge tween cobabe and paradise

in the omars ear hood that has some short sweet pillow lines same with paradise

otherwise t bar and a short boot to the top of marys gits ya to cobabe gate w/out riding marys

the boot / skin out to raintree isnt bad and holds fresh fer days

par 5 from the top doesnt suck

leftys off village is ski in booter or skin out and has some steeper vert but short shots

do go git a burger at one of utardias oldest running saloons

its good

Been meaning to find out about the ins and outs of the Woody's World laps. In theory, could you just park your car at the top of the Hidden Lake Lodge, drop into Woody's World zones for the shuttle laps and just keep lapping that without ever actually riding a chairlift? Asking for a friend...

That same friend also wants to know if you could do the same parking move, walk across the road, and then just go do ski touring laps in Lefty's.

My friend just wants to know if you are able to ride around Pow Mow terrain without buying a ticket...

even though I haven't been there, I want to say I saw PowMow post on their insta page about people trying to do that shuttle lap you're talking about, and ultimately discouraging it or blocking it somehow. Not sure though.

Thanks for the other suggestions guys.

there are numeous no self shuttles signs

theyre pretty lax about a lot their

but cloggin up the no shoulder road doing self shuttles

will probably draw their ire

and no pass is theft of services

that being said we ussually do a shuttle for one or 2 on the way out

This thread has been helpful. Headed out to ski March 1st to 5th. Any issues with Midweek lines? How bad do shuttle lines get, really want to ski Wood's and Powder but don't want to waste hours of the day waiting in line.

Is the boot pack into Cobabe doable for a flatlander? Is it worth the time? Should I just head down Sanctuary instead?

Haven't decided on purchasing snowcat tickets what are your thoughts on Rain Tree or Lighting Ridge? My fiancé is at an intermediate/advanced level and can hold her own on groomed blacks. She hasn't been skiing much in powder, thoughts on if either of these places she could ski?

We're also dragging along the mother-in-law, stepdad and 9 year old stepsister. Best lift to ski if we want to get some steep skiing in while they are able to do greens or easy blues? Mary's looks good on paper

Appreciate the help

Did like 8 powder country laps over the two days I skied there, Wednesday was deep and blower with sold out tickets and I think we waited maybe 10 minutes for 2 of the 8 shuttles. Also waited in line at paradise only once then it cleared out quick. We didn’t do any hikes because it was fresh every single lap off the chair. Really cool place that Powmow, I’ll definitely make a point to ski it on the next Utah trip.

Ay man, glad you had a good time. Also if you skied wednesday high probability you rode past the monster crew ?(colby stevenson, twallisch, few others)

Since you are coming in March, lines should not be a problem whatsoever.

For cobabe canyon, it's relatively flat. I would recommend going down the cat track and once it opens up hooking a left (towards sanctuary I believe). You should see a bootpack that goes up the ridge. Follow it for as long as it goes and you'll find the shit.

Snowcat-wise, raintree is flatter but probably less skied up, and lightning ridge is gangsta but probably more crowded. I'd say your fiance would be okay doing either.

For your relatives, the best bet is probably hidden lake. Mary's lift is super flat and the lift is very slow.

You'll have fun either way, just make sure to check out Lucky Slice at least once.

Backcountry area that leads to the road where you have to take a bus back up is epic. Can't remember what it's called. Also they used to have $20 cat rides, not sure with Covid now tho.
