Telemark Bindings

I am looking to free my heel for the first time. Any suggestions/offers for a good telemark binding for a beginner in free-heeling but an expert in alpine? Also their going to be mounted on a pair of Alpha 1s.

MAXED OUT KARAMA FOR GOOD ADVICE!!!!!!

As you are just starting out to go with something basic and less expensive makes sence. The G3 Targa is a good choice at a good price. You can find them on sale between 150 and 175 typically, they have replaceable cartridges so you can stiffen them later if you need to, and are simple and reliable. The other binding i would suggest is the 22 Designs Hammerhead. It is going to cost a bit more, $225 msrp, but is massively adjustable, super smooth, and really quite powerful. If you stick with it and get good quickly you will appreciate the extra rebound and response that the Hammerhead has and not have to upgrade down the road. Hope that helps.

one that fits your foot best and you can afford. go to a shop and try them on

all my freehealed freaks are on black diamond 01s but probably because the freepivot makes asending easy and Bd has the best warrunties. 22d is a good binding for the price. volie is also good IDK anyone on g3 but there gear is solid

please give my karmas to eheath

PS I'm probably going to donate the stack of stickers you sent me to the ON3P kegerator decoration collection.

If you're thinking about touring at all you should also look at the 22 designs axle- its a lot like the hammerhead but it has a free pivot mode for touring. If you're not going to use them for touring the hammerhead is a good choice.

axle or switchback if you want a free pivot for skinning. ive got the switchback but havent ridden it yet so i cant say much about how they perform. either of these are dope binders and are great.if you dont want the pivot thing then get hammerheads, great bindings. i think of them as the fks of telemark bindings

Hammerheads without a doubt. the adjustability of the activity level will allow you to keep the binding at an appropriate level for you skiing. plus its bomb proof.

BD makes shitty bindings, and G3s are just meh.

Boot wise, go for a used three buckle boot - BD Seeker or Scapra T2. A slightly softer boot will allow you to learn good form without overpowering you.

After that step into a TRace or Ener-g.

Have fun
