First answer to your question...yeah, you have tons of time to get good at tele.....but its totally different and alot more physically demanding.
For mountaineering in the BC, tele is soo much better. You have a free motion to move, and you know in the hard drops that your equipment is going to hold up. AT gear is pretty restrictive when it comes to climbing with skins, the stiff ski boots/restrictive motion of the AT binding limits your motion. Ohh an AT bindings have been known to blow right into pieces on heavy landings. On tele switch is not really an option, but your gear is going to hold up.
Ohh to the second part of your post, don't talk about bands in ski gabber....your just going to look like a tool. That is what the Media and Arts forum is for.
