no but i know that freestyle teleing is way cooler than regular skiing but i dont have the caonjes to do it.

i dont do it, but ive seen some dudes throwin some sick shit on those boards, i think its phat as hell dude and if u wanna keep doin it, go for it. thre arent many of those guys and if ur good and practice u could get noticed by some companies possibly

 
there is a few guys out there who make it look great but tele in general is stupid. Telemarkers run around the hills like they own the place. free healed hippies. fuck em.

yah if ur at all decent you prolly could get sponsored, just cuz there aren't that many good tele freeriders, its def a lower level than alpine, i think the big air nationals was won with a switch 9 and that was by far the most tech trick

Being out there skiing every day, good or bad, just playing around with friends, with no contests or filming- that is the real spirit of skiing for me. that is why i started skiing, and if i lose those moments that is what will make me stop skiing.
 
I've done alpine for a wicked long time, and was starting to get bored. So last year I started taking tele lessons. I'm pretty decent at it now, and alpine about 60% and tele the other 40%. I havn't gone in the park with teles, (I rent them still) and they don't have twin-tips. I'm thinking that if I'm good enough next year I might sell my skis and buy some K2 piste-pipes or something and do that full time

Don't buy the piste pipes you'll learn those little rivets that they put in the tip, to make it look cool, really suck. I suggest buying a regular twin if you want to ride the park then find another tele specific ski for outside.

Madsen is one of the most talented skiers, tele or otherwise, ive ever seen or shot. Were featuring him in our flick this year. Not sure what everyone thinks of a full tele park/bc segment, but when you see what this kid can do, it will open some eyes

i actually have to pick Madsens ass up @ the Greyhound station in 45 minutes, haha finding this thread was kind've funny in a weird way

tele is a totally different aspect of getting down the mountain. It's like comparing snowboarding to skiing, ya i can strap on a board and get down the hill and transfer some of my skills over, some goes with tele. It's just another 'respectable' way to get down the hill. I had a ton of fun tele, and would love to do it a little more, and have the upmost respect for those tele guys that can rip just as hard as any alpine skier. Oh and switch on tele and landing switch is fucking tough. Props to the freetele skiers out there.

ya if you haven't seen it, you should buy 1999, a sicko somewhat oldschool flick from Scott Gaffney. Anyways, it is the only place I have seen a whole segment devoted to tele in the park. i have not heard of the tele skier since then tho.

What are the advantages of tele-freeriding? I'm just wondering why you would tele instead of alpine. not trying to be mean, i just don't know much about it and i'm curious.

idk there aren't really any advantages exactly, its just more fun. I feel like switch landings are harder, but feel alot better when you do them. also it's really nice to not be so locked onto the ski, its kinda hard to explain but i feel like you're alot more restricted and unnatural on alpine skis, not really in a good way.
