Tele Freestyle: Rad or Lame?

What's NS overall opinion on tele skiing? Ik it looks pretty wack in the park but is it a good or bad kind of wack. Myself I can't say it looks better than normal skiing but damm is it a fun challenge to do every few days

I bought a tele set up because I thought if I could just learn how to tele instantly based on nothing but athleticism that I could just pack some skins and be ready to rock for uphill travel on the fly but turns out it’s really hard?‍♂️

They took a lame thing and turned it rad, i never thought I’d live to see a dude do a nosebutter 3 on teles but here we are

I can’t comprehend a nose butter on tele. Like a sw tail butter would work but a nose butter seems like an instant face plant

And that’s on god, you’d think once they reach like 90 degrees they’ll just get too top heavy and go splat but hell naw they be riding out like nothing happened

Eh seems to me like a lot of tele park skiers have very similar style, and it usually isn’t the best imo. I’ve been meaning to try for a while now but usually end up just riding alpine gear all the time, hard to commit a fresh pair of skis to a tele setup and old park skis with missing edge are ass with tele gear

hot take though: if your using stiff plastic boots and ntn bindings you might as well just ride alpine gear

Is stiff NTN gear that much better? I’ve only ridden 75mm cable bindings on my skis

to me the whole point of doing tele is to lose the stiffness inherent to alpine gear, whereas ntn gear adds an insane amount of support to the point you might as well just be wearing alpine gear. I guess it's kind of an old fashioned way of thinking but to me it's like riding a bike with training wheels. That said of course without stiff boots and bindings that shit is hard as hell and I can't pretend I don't suck at tele but I don't see the point if it isn't really that much of a challenge imo.

to double down on my hot take: no one cares you can nose press on a dance floor tele skiers, how about you try and hit rails/boxes without the grace of a newborn giraffe learning how to walk

Do I look like a baby giraffe? It Describes the feeling of being freeheel on a rail very well

My boss is a tele skier. He saw me do a cork 3 off a cat track and when he saw me later he said, "nice 360, i think its time for you to take off your "training heels." most tele skiers are karens, but he rips moguls and pow so i give him respect.

Almost always sick like i remember in a child labor or millbastards vid (i think) this dude slides a box but then he pops his heels up and slides on his toes and i was like holy shit

I once saw a teenage ripper on teles smoke some of the competition field once at an IFSA event which solidified them as forever rad to me. Kid was super nice too.
