snowbird: we built a huge halfpipe.

ostness: k but we're gonna gap over it tho.

this movie perfectly captures utah skiing in a great way. from those sick filler shots of SLC and the editing and all the big LCC gaps. Epic. It is the best movie ever imo. I always get hard for actual film shots of a great canyon.

Super dope to see spots im always touring past and also the b roll shots of places right down the road from my house in the city. I always wonder if there was a premier for it in salt lake back then and if so that’s where I’d first time travel back to be at. Not a fan of movie sequels being made years past the original but damn I’d love to see that happen for TBC, I suggest everyone watches the flying circus on howie arnstads Vimeo, from like 2003 so no super gnarly tricks but such an OG crew and still some sick Utah spots.

Im sure I’ll be watching both within the next week or two to get stoked for skiing.

I remember seeing it from high boy for the first time my first season here and was surprised it was closer to the parking lot than I had imagined, also when I first heard the name “grizzly gulch” as a kid I assumed it was a gnarly ass zone and then my first tour into it I was like “this isn’t that sick” lol

I kinda vividly remember skiing at Alta one day with my family when Tim Durtschi was trying to do that double over Chads I think, and there was this crowd of people watching somewhere there (cant remember) but it was fucking wild seeing these little ants out yonder speed check.

I’d always be down to watch a chads session go down, I remember a homie of mine, maybe the same day I first saw chads from Alta come to the patio at the end of the day and show me a shot he had just gotten of McChesney rod 10 on pyramids when he built it to be like over 100’ for the good company film a few years ago. Still waiting to see someone hit the rocker gap in guardsmans again, though when I was up there a few weeks ago it looked like UDOT placed some no parking signs right where you wanna be coming down into the landing, might be able to calculate the right aim for it and miss it but kinda sad.

yep another sequel needs to happen and leviathon needs to be in again

if y'all can get the rest of the film done and no one else will step to leviathon, i'll do it for the film. i won't land on my feet and they won't get a legit shot out of it but they can at least toss it in the credits or something as an homage

Propaganda will always be my favorite but this is a classic for sure. I randomly clicked through some segments and hit the one of Dumont's slam. I forgot how brutal that one was.

“Partnering with Rostrup for Teddybearwas a great thing but in the end both of us where creative heads and not bean counters. When the budget was blown out for Teddybear we still opted to shoot the intro in Norway with a full film crew and in 35mm. That all came out of our pockets, we could have walked and done something inexpensive and maybe made money on the movie but… I don’t know, the intro that broke the Teddybears‘ back? Maybe, but I sure love that intro.“

Word.

so many classic shots in this movie. the one that just came to mind: mike wilson on this gap (forget the name). reminder, the camera doesn't move and he lands out of frame lmao

Greatest "free-skiing" movie of all time.

Does it beat blizzard of ahhhs?

Also the sherpas movies i think will age very well (or as well as TBC) as skiing continues to change and more and more people are getting into the BC

Rocker Gap at the top of Guardsman, you dumb fuck

ScottyBoi, you gotta tee-it up one time for the boys this winter. And if you get smoked, then corporate will get you some nice workers comp.

Not political. I just like to give Skierman shit for being an asshole and listening to NPR.
