Teddy Knape

Today, March 12th 2005, Teddy Knape suffered an apparent heart attack in the mountains of Whistler BC and passed away. Teddy grew up in Grand Rapids Michigan and did more for the midwest ski scene in his life than anyone else i've met. He was a great kid who loved every aspect of the sport of skiing and never gave anyone a hard time. Also known as "Skier10322" on ns.com, he was pretty well known throughout the midwest ski scene as well as the national ski scene. i dont really know what else to say, i'm still in shock, once i find out details on the memorial services, which will presumably be held in western michigan, i will update the thread. keep the knape family in your thoughts.

Theo - thanks for all the good times i had with you at crystal mountain and all around the state, my view on the sport of skiing would be a whole lot different without you. i'll miss you.

Teddy - i remember when we rode pipe at marquette about 4 years ago. that was a good day. RIP bro.

A great guy to be around. Always happy to be riding or filming with you, even if youre getting your ass kicked by an urban rail. He will definatley be missed. I always enjoyed catching up with him about what he was doing out in Washington and theory 3. He definatley blew up the SW michigan scene, I think im gonna go watch The State of Michigan vs. Teddy Knape, great movie he put together a few years back...

The State of Michigan vs Teddy Knape was really awesome. I may have to watch it again in honor of him. I never talked to him in real life but we talked online a few times and I saw him at some stuff. Wow this is terrible.

I've known Teddy since i was 13 years old. He is responisble for everything i have achievved and wish to achieve in skiing. I was going to post a collection of memories that I've had with Teddy and attempt to describe the influence he's had on me in the 5 years that ive known him, but i found myself somewhere around 800 words and not even close to being finished. It's taken me a while to post in this, because i don't really know what to say. It is an injustice to try and describe what teddy has meant to the people who knew him. I personally could never (and would never want to) imagine what my life would be like if i had never met Teddy, and it is much, much harder to think of what it is going to be like without him. I love that kid. The void he leaves in the ski industry, and in the people who knew him, can't and never will be replaced. It is argued by some that the recent skiing scene has lost the soul that it once had, it is clear to me that none of those people have ever met teddy knape. I geuss i will leave it at that, because i am at a loss for anything else to say. I'm going to miss you teddy, you went way too soon.

I feel you Tyler, You and Teddy were really close, if there is anything I can do to help you out, let me know.

teddy definitely did blow up the southern michigan scene, i know if it wasnt for him there wouldnt be so many skiers from there--including myself--out there now doing what we love.

teddy was a damn cool kid. he will be missed for sure. My thoughts to lane and tyler, the knapes, his family and to the people who knew him best. I was definately sorry to hear it.
