Teddy bear crisis letdown

So i ordered TBC along with S6 and War. TBC was a let down. not only was it the same jumps over and over again.. the music made it very monotonous. I got like half way through it and was like.. its not over yet??? theres no spike in the excitement like S6 and War had. i know everyone raves about it but how many times can we see the same time lapse just with the camera tilted.. it was the same trick over and over with no real variety to location or terrain..

Props to Kris for puttin such a tech video together cause i know how much of a bitch it can be to edit hours of footy.. but mixin up the music more and not seeing chads, pyramid, or the halfpipe jump over and over would have helped it..

(okay.. now for all of you who actually saw it and read all this... lets hear it.. and im sure someone will be a post whore and just call me retarded)

You are entitled to your own opinion. I respect your opinion too, but I really liked it. The jumps were a bit repetative, but atleast it was the only movie that had those jumps. The music was super good I thought, but I agree that it was really similar through out, my guesse was that Rostrup and Ostness wanted to make it similar to Afterlame. But I really liked it. It could have also been because maybe you watched War and Shanghai 6 before Teddy Crisis (maybe, maybe not) I'n not really sure.

I thought there was a whole lot of big backcountry jumps. Do you have any idea how much work goes into each of those jumps? They are fucking massive, perfectly made, and solid as hell. Also, I thought the soundtrack could have been a little more varied, but it was very unique. And the timelapses are amazingly well done!

i thought that the tbc was just as good as war. it is just different then other ski movies that is why some people hate it

I dunno war was a typical Johnny movie. Very predictable ...i liked how TBC was interesting and very different style of movie. It was ok, but it was at least different and thats a progession in the right direction there.

for me it goes

1) tbc

2) war

3) s6

i really wasnt impressed with shanghai at all. there were a couple good segments but there are just too many medoicre segments.

yea, I'm almost there too. It gets sooo much better as you watch it, I was pissed after I watched it the first time, now I watch it like daily and still love it. Just give it time. Or watch it shitfaced.

I agree with you, It got kindof old pretty fast. Also to me, it kinda seemed at times like the shot was grainy... whatev though. SH6 is the shit

TBC was very well done in my opinion. A movie cant satisfy everybody. FOr instance, I though it had a fantastic soundtrack, and the movie had a unique feel. The way it was assembled was also very cool. I think for true watching enjoyment (sentimental value aside) it is my favorite ski movie.

War was good, but it didnt have the charm that TBC did. Shanghai 6 was dope, but if you're bothered by the repitition in TBC (which isn't that present) then SH6 would should be even worse. It's a dope movie and all, but just a notch below TBC in my opinion.

This year my favorites go:

TBC

Whiteshine

SH6

War

i kinda liked the music but yah it's a weird flow all of it together. I didn't think it was that great the first time but it gets better

When I first got it I thought the same as you, but now that I have watched it over and over again, I reall started to apreciate it more, it gets better every time I watch it.

yeah i agree wiht u man i didnt get pumped at all i mean teh skiing off the hook but i dont know what it is about it but war and sh6 were way better to get pumped

I thought it was amazing, crazy music big good tricks, gooooood handrail seg and a good movie others are better but thats one of my favorites.

ya thats true it was a bit of a letdown...but like half of the segments are very sick...and then half are jsut boring and repetitive....like tanner, simon, henrick, jon, laurent, brandon becker and a few others were really sick i thought.

I liked TBC. I hated it the first time i watched it, I thought a lot of the camera quality was sketchy and i couldnt stand the music, but as i watched it, i enjoyed it more. I think the beginning kinda sucks, but once you get about halfway through it gets really good.

But for some reason i really enjoyed War. For me, it had by far the best soundtrack. Every song in it was at least decent. Plus, Pep's comeback was sick. My let down this year was S6, I throw it on from time to time and still find myself disappointed after all the hype it recieves on here.

i thought it was sick, the only part i didnt like was that there wasnt much special features.

I love TBC. But i guess if you don't like all the artsy stuff or the differnt music, you won't be so stoked on it.

im starting to agree with some of you.. i watched it again tonight.. and over all the movie is good. but in comparison i still go with war for entertainment quality and amount of excitement of the segments

How can you not like TBC like becker is in it and I have personely met becker and really I like the Europeon techno in the TBC its sick.

TBC was alot better than War. War was the same stuff over and over, bad editing, and mediocre music.

TBC had some amazing and unique gaps and jumps in the backcountry, but had very few rails.

S6 was my favorite so far this year. Love seeing urban rails, and the editing, music, and flow was the best ever for a ski movie.

TBC is the best ski movie I've ever seen. The whole movie flows so well. I watched 1242 after TBC one day cause it used to be my favorite...It wasn't the same. But that's me.

in case you didnt notice the jumps were all like 70 feet plus and the park jumps were all at least 90. but i still like war and S6 better.

tbc is an awesome movie, if you didn't like it you simply have no appreciation for production value in ski films. War was also good.
