Techs, whats your least favorite bindings to work with?

Slow day at work, what brand of bindings really grinds your gears (or smashes your fingers)?

not a pro tech but i do a lot of mounts. pivots suck because there's really no way of knowing if forward pressure is right. also if you change boot sizes there's like a 90% chance you'll need a remount due to the tiny ass bsl range. rear screws on the attack heelpiece are also tough because they always want to go in at a 45deg angle. also any binding with tour/ski mode just because of the amount of triple measuring i have to do

pivots are annoying cause fp is fucked. griffons are annoying cause the heelpeice is annoying asf to adjust and attacks always look weird so people think they're fucked but its just the plastic flaring up while the screws are tight

How is the griffon heel piece annoying to adjust? I love the fp screw adjustment, I think its genius. Also the brakes are backwards compatible over three generations of bindings which is tight

adjusting the forward pressure of a shift binding if there’s a big amount to adjust. it’s so goddamn slow.

some old rossi rental bindings were also a nightmare to adjust, you need some pins and really skinny screwdrivers to adjust it and it sucks.

also pivot rear din screw

you're supposed to test bindings which will immediately tell you if you've adjusted forward pressure correctly or not, at least with pivots in my experience. I do agree with the attack heel pieces, they suck. Also the shift is so anal about being adjusted correctly so that sucks too

not a tech, but i always find the binding adjustment on the Tyrolias to be shite. they slip more than most bindings i have tried. griffon heelplate strips faster though

pivots are annoying since if it's not the excact right bsl the forward pressure is so finnicky to get right. a shop fucked my pivots once and made them too tight, couldn't get the fwd correct and got a good discount on the skis.

shop is currently mounting my pivots, how i do tell if they happened to screw it up?

Not a tech, but I do my fair share of home mounts without templates.

the three part toe piece on the shift is pretty hard to do without a template. Like it’ll still work, but always wondering if it’s secure.

pin bindings, it’s hard to get the toe and heel perfectly parallel.

the plastic on look Rossi bindings is the same shit they make the plastic lids from Starbucks. Way too brittle IMO. To be fair I haven’t bought pivots in like 10 years.

I haven’t had problems setting up attacks, but the constant afd check adjustment is pita.

I’ve loved mine other than having to check the afd once in a while. Other than that they’re great and simple.

Also don’t forget to do even adjustments on both arms as you go. Also when you get the forward pressure set I like to give the heel a twist to check the elasticity. You can have a tiny amount but nothing over the top.

Pivots are the easiest, the FP is easy idk why yall say it's hard. Marker is the most annoying cause you have to adjust afd so much and some models you have to use a fuckin hex on the screw.

What is going on at the marker factory? They seem to just throw the screws in the box and peace out.

old dynafits without the rotating toe that mean you have to mount the heel, loosely mount the front toe screws, clip in the pins, line it up with the heel pins and then fully tighten the front toe screws, remove the boot and do the other screws on the toe. Otherwise you run the risk on them not lining up.

meidjo pin tele bindings. So many screws.

Frame bindings, they’re all sub-par experiences for everyone involved.

Tyrolia attack AT - don’t forget that heel riser plate because we decided that was how to sort out the ramp angle.

One of the Tyrolia rental system bindings where the toes had to move with the heels at the same time which always jammed.

The Rossi axial women’s binding doesn’t have a forward pressure screw making it so sketch

Isn’t there a little sight window on the side? If so there is a little white or yellow slide that should take up about half of that window when you’re looking through it

Attack heels are notorious and pivots just require a bit of feel. To the guy that said the axial doesn't have fwp indicator, i hope you havnt set up many of em lmao premature ejectulation

The only answer to this is Attacks. I love them, they're my favorite overall binding and they are pretty much all I ride... but mounting them can fuck right off. It's got to the point where I genuinely try to review skis mounted with a 4.1x9mm bit because mounting Attacks 3.5x9 at home makes me lose the will to live. It always works out fine in the end but it's just incredibly annoying.
