Technica Mach1 120 LV vs. Atomic hawx ultra 130

Hey y'all

I had a couple questions about these two boots here..

Which boot will accommodate a more narrow foot with a lower instep?

Also, how much will a ski boot weight affect your riding and in what way?

Any additional insight on either of these boots would be awesome!

Thank you.

Re: weight - think about every other sport you would play. Running, soccer, road biking, mountain biking, tennis... when your equipment gets lighter (yet retains all of the same performance benefits), you will notice a positive benefit to how you play your sport. When your ski boot is over 25% lighter (this is in many cases a full pound per foot), you will be able to move from turn to turn far easier than before. This is helpful on groomers, especially helpful in pow and in the trees, and when future spinning.

The Hawx will definitely be more accommodating, as it can be fully molded (the Mach1 cannot). My opinion is that if you can make the Mach1 work for you, go with that. The liner in that boot is heads and shoulders above that in the Hawx in terms of quality.

Any other reasons why you chose that boot besides the liner? I have heard the shell can only expand and not contract, will the mach1 120 low volume be more narrow with a lower instep even though they both claim a 98 mm last width?

Thanks again, appreciate the feedback.

What's the last on your foot? The Lange RX LV and the Head Raptor should also be on your radar. Best is to go to shops and try them on.

As for molding. You can contract boots with moldable shells if you put them in a Fischer Vaccum Machine, but you need a professional boot fitter to do that properly.

Ideal boot would be Hawx Ultra shell and Mach 1 liner.

Atomic liners are junk, unfortunately. Who uses pilling fleeces in liners without any reinforcement? The liner literally crumples when trying to put it on.

Appreciate the feedback, but yeah I noticed the liner quality difference pretty much as soon as I slipped on the C.A.S liner from technica. I loved the light weight design and all with the Hawx but it just had a very awkward feel to it, almost boxy and not anatomically correct for my foot if that makes any sense.

As far as my original post goes I guess I didn’t really specify what I was looking for, so which boot will actually be lower on the instep, shorter bootsole

Length, and lower last?

The hawx has one of the lowest and tightest insteps I've seen. Lower than the lange rx lv or my Nordica gpx.....im assuming also lower than the technica.

I'm gunna pick up the hawx 130 for my new alpine boot next season. Not too terribly worried about the liner...most stock liners suck andyways....ill throw an intuition in there if it's that bad/when I blow out the stock liner. I think that will solve the slightly less lateral stiffness anyways.

OP....any of the 130 flex high end boots are going to be a great boot....go with the one that fits the best.....that will give you the best performance rather than nitpicking details.
